The Digital Shopping Dilema

Mark Goldstein | Websites | March 10, 2003 | 2 Comments

In this week’s Sunday Morning Photographer column, Mike Johnston looks at an issue that seems to plague digital camera users; which camera to buy and when to buy it? Immediately after the announcement of Canon’s EOS 10D, people on discussion forums were asking what the next Canon release would be, just in case there was something better around the corner! Will these people buy the 10D, or will they end up waiting for a camera that hasn’t been announced yet? I tend to agree with Mike when he says:

“The fact is, you can make yourself just as crazy going the other way, too…waiting and waiting for the Next Big Thing. The fact is, cameras are for taking pictures with. If you’re eternally waiting for the next step instead of buying a decent camera, you’re not going to be taking a whole lot of pictures.”

I've ordered the 10D. It will be enough for me for at least the next 24 months. If I evolve so much that I outgrow it, then then how much happier can I be, then to have grown so much.
