The End of Photokina 2006

Mark Goldstein | PhotographyBLOG | October 2, 2006 | 2 Comments

I’ve now returned from Photokina 2006, after a long week of meetings, walking, and even more meetings and walking. We’ve now fully updated our Photokina Show Report, which takes a look at some of the new products in detail, nominates our Stars of the Show, and summarises all of the major announcements that were made both leading up to and during the week-long event. I’ll also be adding a comprehensive look-back at the show in the next few days. Finally, what did I find waiting on my desk when I got back? Only an invite to PMA 2007…

Mark, anxious to know if you got any good feedback on OLED progress.
It appears that the leaders in it's extended life expectancy, a problem up to now, are Sanyo and Samsung.
It will probably be the next-best-thing in digital photography when applied to EVF cameras, and screens!

Well, IMHO, there were not many new products that would change ny current equipment, nor my style of photography.

I ignore all 'Promised Technology' such as Sigma and Fuji.

Canon is the winner with the 'Real' 400D/XTI.

I believe the timing of munufacturer's use of the OEM 10.2 MP sensor (Sony?),
moved the market place on a different track
for deliverable product introductions, as opposed to Photokina itself.

As a result I have decided to buy a second R-1 and let the market go by for the next few years.
