Thom Hogan’s Nikon D70 First Impressions

Mark Goldstein | Digital SLR Cameras | February 2, 2004 | 3 Comments

Nikon D70Long-time Nikon user Thom Hogan has posted his first impressions of the Nikon D70’s feature specification, comparing it with the D100:

“Note how many of the features in the above list are “better than D100” and how few are “worse than D100.” Given the lower price, the D70 effectively removes the D100 from the market and lowers the resale value of the D100. Note that this doesn’t mean the D100 is any less capable than it has been (which is to say “very”), just that the target for digital cameras moves forward.”

D100 users must be so pissed off right now.

Only the newest ones I think - the D100 has been around for a couple of years now, so if you bought it within the first 6-12 months after release, why would you be upset? That's the nature of digital at the moment.

Why would D100 user be upset? I say welcome to the Canon DSLR pricing world. I had D60 and watch the price fall when the 10D was announce. Now Nikon owners are in the same boat. New digital cameras come out and are cheaper.

The only good thing this does not applied to camera lens. The resell value is still good.
