Tiffen Press Release
Steadicam Film Contest
Action Cameras has teamed up with Tiffen, the creators of the Steadicam stabilisation system, in a competition to find the best film-making talent in action sports. No, we’re not looking for the next Sam Mendes (although who knows?) but we do want to see who has the talent to produce two short films of a maximum of three minutes each which best demonstrates the theme “Action Sports”. Maybe you’ve got a great video of a ski slalom, perhaps a heart-stopping sky dive from 10,000 feet (but Felix Baumgartner is excluded!) or your first great tailwhip. The subjects are up to you and you can have filmed them on any equipment and used whatever software you want to edit them. We don’t want to restrict your creative juices!
And what do you win? There will be two rounds – for Round 1 a committee of experienced film makers will select five finalists from all the entries and they will receive a GoPro HERO3 Black Edition action camera and a Steadicam Smoothee, a prize worth £528.
Those five finalists will then be judged against each other in Round 2 to find the overall winner who will win a fantastic prize worth over £3000 and consists of:
Canon EOS 60D DSLR complete with a Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS lens
Tiffen Dfx 3.0 Video Plug-In
Lowel Blender LED light
Tiffen Filter ND Kit
Domke 416 Roller Case
The GoPro HERO3 is the standard by which all other action cameras are judged – 12MP still shots, 1080p/60fps and 4k in 12fps video mode, extreme wide-angle lens, Wi-Fi enabled, weighing 2.6 oz - 25% lighter and 30% smaller than previous models.
And what better to use with it but the Steadicam Smoothee – get professional smooth footage wherever you go. With the same technology as the $60,000 Steadicam rigs, the Smoothee will perfectly balance your GoPro or iPhone when shooting those action moments, whether you’re paintballing, running or covering your mates’ extreme jumps at the terrain park. Ramp up your GoPro to 60fps and get awesome slow-motion footage with Steadicam smoothness.
So get shooting and you can be in with a chance of winning those fabulous prizes. And Sam Mendes may not be available for the next James Bond film…
