What Will Canon Announce Tomorrow?!

Mark Goldstein | Websites | August 19, 2003 | 3 Comments

Tomorrow is the day when Canon will make the big announcement that they are claiming will be “historic”. Unfortunately I’m just an amateur photographer with a full-time job, so I won’t be able to attend the 2-day event (not that I was invited anyway!). Ian Burley of DP-Now, however, is joining the 400+ members of the European press at the Canon extravaganza in London. Ian has kindly set up a webpage that will be updated as the news breaks, and you can also sign-up for a notification email that will deliver all the news straight to your inbox.

A Canon canon line. You know, heavy artillery. They're branching out into the growing field of military R&D.
"The new Canon EOS-C canon system, with a wide range of barrels and projectiles, will forever change the way wars are fought. Future expansion products include the L-series extra-wide dispersion shells, UltraSonic Munitions, and Instant Submission concussion bombs. The line will also include a variety of base units, including the small and portable Rebellion Ti turret. Super-fast motor-loaders will be available at product launch time, for those situations that call for up to 7vps (volleys pers second).
Canon canons: Nikon is getting out of our way; shouldn't you?"

John, that's one of the funniest "What Canon are going to announce" stories that I've read - you must have way too much time on your hands! grin

Canon must be delighted. At last they've found a way of migrating the photography community *back* to higher priced cameras. The age of the £500 SLR (the price I assume this sort of model will eventually fall to) has returned. The new model looks good, but I'd still rather digital cameras moved the state of the art on somewhat, away from the clunky SLR ideas of 30 years ago. I'll stick with the G5 strand of evolution even if that comes with some restrictions.
