Yashica Back from the Dead
The famous Yashica camera brand has been reborn, with 8 new digital models on the way. Production of Yashica cameras stopped in 2005 when parent company Kyocera withdrew from manufacturing both Yashica and Contax models. Now Hong-Kong based JNC Datum Tech. International Ltd have revived the Yashica name with a new range of 7 and 8 megapixel cameras in the USA. There are even 4 film cameras available for the analog purist. According to Amateur Photographer, 5 of the digital models will make it to the UK, price from £49 - £120.

The names is the same but it's not the same company.
Typical of them to cheat people who won't know the difference. Why not just put a different name on it?

These look like spectacularly boring & generic compact digicams which do not have any relevance to the iconic rangefinders that made Yashica famous in the 60s and 70s.
They are quite like the very un-special cameras that Yashica made before disappearing.
Kyocera should have marketed these products under their own name which has a perfectly good reputation for imaging products.

of course this has nothing to do with the Contax name which is owned by Carl Zeiss. I wish it would come back in it's own right.
