According to Google, 7980 yen are 90 dollars. I don't know how expensive is that in Japan, but must be rock solid and top level quality images to compete against 20 dollars chinese cameras.

I believe that's Carl Zeiss T* Plastic in that lens.

A digital Yashica GSN? If this shoots like that old film camera, you might have something here.

Looks like retro Yashica Lynxs, very nice.

5Mp is more than adequate for P&S, lets hope low light capability is better than run of the mill offereings form all vendors.

Nice to see optical viewfinder is back on a P&S digital camera. The daftest thing that digital revolution brought to us is shooting at arms length.

This camera has the potential to have a very high coolness factor.

The plastic body makes it light. 5MP is enough for the lo-res pictures I'm interested in doing. I already have a 10MP camera to use for my family pics. It's cool that they decided not to play the mega pixel escalation game. Smaller images take up less space and are easier to share and deal with on-line. It also makes for a cheaper camera. I like the look a plastic lens gives pictures. I'm hoping they used a plastic meniscus lens. The cheaper, the better for the way I will be using it. The big non-retracting lens means that I might be able to use filters or converters with it. Maybe the Holga lenses will fit this! I love the look of the exposed screws. I like the fact that they put the strap loops on both sides of the camera so that I can hang it around my neck like an old-fashioned compact 35mm and use it quickly. It's great that it has an optical viewfinder. Even the best LCD screens get washed out in bright sunlight and I prefer taking shots with the camera up to my face rather than at arms length.

I can't wait to try this thing out.

I clicked the link but there is no buy button. Can you find a site where it can be purchased and post?

Thanks!

I would love to, but it's not currently available. I looked all around and found an article that said that it would be available at the "end of October" in Japan. I saw another article that said that the instructions they saw were in Japanese only, but that they had spoken to an engineer who said the camera display would have language options which included English.

We are experiencing here the attack of the undead...

@ Gabriel: Just like I have no vision for the coolest "Lomography", Holgas and "pinhole" cameras. I must confess that daguerrotypes do not thrill me, either. wink
