Dear Photographyblog,

Are you sure the jpeg picture nr. 09 has been taken at 25600 ISO? It seems impossible.

Best,

To judge 25600 by 6400 and 12800, there is no mistakes. Yeah, overwhelming… It seems impossible, but it is for real. Gosh, its better than most 35…

Corrado, why impossible? Fuji X is famous for being good at high ISO.

I compared these book shots to the book shots for the OMD EM5, and it’s a big difference. The Fuji retains much more detail, and less noise. Pretty impressive.

I love how small the MFT cameras and lenses are, but I think Fuji X system is worth it for the better picture quality. I’m probably going get an X-T1, but need to try it first.

I was just amazed, but I wanted to make sure they published the correct photograph. Even if you compare with the Ricoh Pentax K3, which is possibly the best APSC DSLR on the market, the JPEG are mouch less noisy or grainy at the same ISO. That was what gave me some doubts .... It is unbelivable what they have been able to achieve.

@Photographyblog: are you 100% sure it is the correct ISO??

Unbelievable noise control! I’ve been saying it for a while that the CSCs are going to take over. It just appears like such an obvious trend. As technology progresses, image quality will only become better and better. We’ve arrived at a time when a sensor that can fit inside of a compact is able to compete with DSLR quality, that’s all. After all, who wouldn’t give up a bulky DSLR for a slender but robustly built compact? Once you hold one of those magnesium alloy bodies, you’ll get the itching to own one :))

What RAW converter are you using? I tried ACR 8.3 but it wouldn’t open the RAW files. Silkypix, maybe?
Thanks

@Corrado - i hear that iso on fujis is a bit higher than other cameras (for example when you see iso 3200 its more like 2000) so that would mean that the high 25600 is actually a bit lower like 16k but its still impressive :)

Is it possible to take people picture so we can see the skin tones?

Well, sorry for coming back after such a long time, but we ended up buying it and after 6000 shots I can confirm. I shoot without any problem at 6400 indoor and with very feeble light (cosy restaurants in the evening, indoor shows) and they look very good. Only problem with 12800 / 25600 is that it is only JPEG, but I am sure Fuji will fix in the next firmware release (Fuji are you listening?). Altanatively you shoot at 6400 ISO but you expose for 25600, and it works. I have exposed for 409,600 ISO, just to take the mikey out of the Sony, and you can actually pull out quite reasonable details from the raw file (!!!!).
