Olympus E-PL2 Photos Image

We had a brief opportunity to try out the brand new Olympus E-PL2 camera in a rather snowy pre-Christmas London. There are 43 full-sized JPEG and 15 RAW photos in our Olympus E-PL2 gallery, including all the digital filters and full ISO range.

A gallery of JPEG and RAW sample images taken with the new Olympus E-PL2.

Mmm, at 1600 Iso these photos are similar in quality to the photos taken with my (much cheaper) Fujifilm compact camera, that’s a disappointment!

These samples are a waste of time. Camera shake on the two I looked at.
While real world photography might induce some camera shake for a review it should show optimum possibilities. And I should add some better image making.
This has been highlighted before - photoblog. Less haste please.

Very disappointing results. Indeed this camera is capable of a lot more.

Possibly not the most fabulous photos in the world, but you’ve gone out on a crummy day (Critics, read ‘brief opportunity’ above) and given us something to look at. They give a good idea of how the camera deals with high ISO, which is my main interest.

The images seem to hold up quite well at 1600, some fairly agressive noise reduction, but really useable. Anyone that thinks they will get this sort of result from a compact is going to be very disappointed.

Thank you for posting.

Wow, you guys are a hard crowd to please! I don’t know if the internet generation has created a whole lot of whiners or if they’re just easier to hear now. Lighten up already.

The raw files may be useful later when Camera Raw catches up with the .ORF format.

No we are not hard to please. We simply have high discerning standards and don’t just lap up any old trash…...............

These are supposed to be sample shots, taken during a quick trip out from a show, not artistic masterpieces.

And Conrad, if you want to be a critic, I would remove the link to your own site. High standards eh? Hmm!
