Now that the Pentax 645D has made its way onto European shores, we got some time to take photos with this easy-handling 40 megapixel medium-format replacement, albeit only within the creative confines of the Pentax press area. Here are 19 full-size JPEGs taken at a variety of ISO speeds which provide some idea of what the Pentax 645D is capable of.

Where the pictures of the bottles, items 15 through 19 taken hand held? The 1600 ISO was much sharper. Was it the difference in the camera or technique? The noise at 100 ISO was almost non existent, at 1600 more than acceptable!

Obviously handheld and blurred due to camera shake and possible front focus.

These photos are worthless as indicators of image quality except for noise.

Thanks for the shots. I wonder how accurate the AF is on the pentax medium format system. Is the mirror shake brutal ?

I’d love to see a foveon version by the way…
