Samsung NX100 Photos Image

Samsung are making big noises about their new NX100 compact system camera at Photokina, and we were given the opportunity to test it out for ourselves at an exclusive press event on the Rhine. Lighting was low and subject matter was somewhat limited aboard ship, but these 28 full-size JPEGs taken at a variety of ISO speeds provide some idea of what the NX100 is capable of.

Full-size sample photos taken with the new Samsung NX100 compact system camera.

Extremely noisy pictures, especially for jpegs shot on an APS-C sensor, even at ISO 400!

Was NR completely switched off?

I think it was set to the default NR option, which is on for High ISO images.

The images don’t come up for me, I get a 403 error.

But the very top image does, and I must say I’m disappointed. I was salivating for this camera, but if IQ is like in this image, it just won’t do. I hope it’s an isolated shot, and/or pre-production issue.

in the 19-th picture there is that guy from dpreview :)
And on the topic.. yes ISO do look a little dissapointing especially comparing to new sensors from sony.
NX100 doesn’t look like any progress has been made from when my old 6mpx pentax camera appeared :/

Ok I take my words about comparing it to 6mpx pentax back. It looks better.

I think better shots could have been used to illustrate the sensor’s performance.

I won a bag of goodies on the Samsung stand notepad pens etc. The images they were showing looked quite good if not a little overexposed but this could have been caused by the way they were being displayed on a wall of TV’s

The images on this site for the full review of the NX10 seemed to me slightly worse than in equivalent competition reviews, yet reviews across the net all say it has very good image quality and piecing reveiws together indicates a concensus among reviews that image quality is among the best in its price bracket.
Now here we have distinctly underwhelming image quality. They are all very poor, even in a kitchen which you would expect to be well lit.
