Absolutely insane amount of CA, at any zoom and aperture position. Very bad softness, wide or long. Looks much worse that even Nikkor 24-120/4, which is not shiny, either. There is not your fault, guys, very nice and extremely honest test is done, thank you! Simply I can’t believe it is the lens of ART series, looks like very bad copy you got for that test.

This lens is one that many of us have been waiting for, I like the Canon, but since I shoot Nikon, it doesn’t do me any good. The Chromatic Aberration you are referring to is mostly at 24mm, and at F4. It’s not nearly as bad at F5.6, or as you increase the Zoom. It’s going to be at least $300.00 less than the closest Nikon, the 24-120mm F4 and I’m not too crazy about that lens anyhow. Nikon continues to cater to the DX shooters, and they’re trying to build as many new lenses as they can, even if it means discontinuing some fine lenses that many of us wanted. It’s no coincidence that they’ve sold 80 million Nikkors in 80 years!

Didn’t Jack LaLane tow 75 boats, on his 75th Birthday?
So tell me, what choice do we have? Most any lens performs better a couple of stops down, that goes for all brands. They’ve had some great lenses over the years, but those lucky enough to have them, seem to be keeping them. I’m sure you know your lenses, and maybe you are very selective, but please tell me if there’s a good alternative. I’m open to excellent condition used, or even a refurbished lens. I’m not looking for a dispute, just a very good lens. Sigma had a 28-105mm F4-5.6 UC before this, they must have learned something from that design. Also, this lens can be fine tuned, to suite each user.  This is an often ignored range, and they don’t make it easy for us. You can reply here, or via email.

About this lens,
I forgot to mention this: The Sigma 24-105mm F4 DG OS HSM
is also one of the Sigma lenses that can be converted to a different mount. This was impossible (or cheaper to replace the lens) before Sigma started building lenses with this capability. I think this is the 10th lens with this capability now. Interesting that they left Pentax out, at B&H you can Pre-order it for Nikon, Canon, Sony, and of course Sigma, but no Pentax. Price for this lens is $899.00 at B&H.

Hi Joe. I am sure the next copy of the Sigma 24-105 will be great, as it must be. I used to see much better images made by this lens. To be fully covered, try to find sellers who offered returns/exchange, and have peace of mind. Good luck!
