The new Sony A65 has been rather overlooked in all the excitement surrounding the A77 and NEX-7 models, but we grabbed some quality time with this very capable mid-range DSLR . Here are 41 sample photos and a 1080p movie taken with the Sony A65 camera and two different lenses, the standard 18-55mm kit lens and the new 16-50mm f/2.8 DT lens.
There's also a full ISO range from 50 to 16000 so that you can see exactly what the 24 megapixel sensor is capable of.
The Sony A65 digital SLT camera offers a 24.3 megapixel APS-C sensor, 10fps burst shooting, 15-point auto-focus system, an XGA OLED electronic viewfinder with 2359k dot resolution, and 1080p Full HD video recording.

For some reason it seems that I see the video with some shadow, every odd/even row it’s moved and doesen’t form a continuous image (I’ll add a link to a screen-shot http://imageshack.us/f/839/vlcsnap2011082516h42m16.png/ ). Can someone please help me?

Images are cool. I guess its worth giving try to Sony A65. Any negatives reported so far?
Brian.

Hi, is the video shot with the 18-55? Or the 16-50 SSM. I’d be interested to know the difference in focus speed/noise, between the two lenses.
Thanks!

Some shots are shot at a focal length of 75mm or 82mm. How’s that possible, if the lenses used were the 16-50 and the 18-55?

@Mike:
Its because of the cropped size of the sensor as its not a full size one so in this case the lens focal length is multiplied by 1.5 to give you your equivilent focal range.

Video is 50 fps interlaced.
Focus lengths are converted - as if anyone actually ever converts those numbers. The numbers that are reported inside the image files are always used. Noone actually sits there and multiplies it with the apsc factor.
Also, testing using one of Sony’s worst lenses? The el-cheapo 18-55? Come on already ! Throw some primaries on.
This really isn’t a good review at all !

Could be a nice camera. Too bad the photographer sucked in the examples.
