We spent yesterday shooting with the new Sony DT 16-50mm f/2.8 SSM telephoto zoom lens for the Alpha camera system. Here are 40 sample photos taken with the Sony A77 camera and the Sony DT 16-50mm lens.
The Sony DT 16-50mm f/2.8 SSM is the new standard zoom kit lens for the Sony A77 camera. Featuring a maximum aperture of f/2.8 at all focal lengths, the Sony DT 16-50mm is faster and wider than most kit lenses.

Hello! These images, are they taken in auto mode without any processing? And what version of firmware is on the camera that was used for these photos? Thank you!

It does, on a selection of Sony lenses.

If this is the best that camera can do then there is a problem. It is like looking at digital images from years ago. I had hoped to buy this camera but these pics look like they were taken with a point and shoot. No way I will buy it now.

We shot 2 weddings with our new A77 so far using a MINOLTA 17-35MM 1:2.8-4. Both weddings were with less than ideal lighting situations and the camera handled both unique photos came out superb. We can’t wait until our 2nd one comes in with this 16-60 2.8 lens. We are going to do a head to head test vs our 17-35 and if the 16-50 is what we hope it is it will become our primary wedding lens.
We upgraded to the A77 from A55s not expecting much photo improvement. We were very wrong about that and the photos are certainly a long way away from point and shoot or even last year’s “camera of the year” technology. For some samples visit our site. http://abetterdj.net/SONY-SLT-A77-SAMPLES.html
Macauley and Joe, I believe the A77 has the entire Sony and Minolta libraries in it to do auto corrections :D

We received our 2nd A77 and got the SONY 16-50MM 2.8 lens with it this time. This lens is absolutely amazing!
I don’t usually care much for the standard SONY lenses except the “G"s and the CZs but this lens deserves a home on one of our A77s. This could easily have been classified a"G” lens!
Samples and review are posted here http://abetterdj.net/SONY-16-50MM-2.8.html

We’ve now taken over 25,000 excellent photos and videos with our 2 SONY SLT-A77s and our SONY 16-50MM 2.8 lens. We have shot many weddings and we were the official photographers of the Rock Legends Cruise Dec. 1-5
We have detailed reviews over a 3 month period and lots of samples under the SONY|MINOLTA tab at http:/www.abetterdj.net

Thanks! It would have been nice to post a shot taken at 16mm as well, to have a perspective.

@ABETERDJANDPHOTOGRAPHER : Your site is really not nice to the eyes! You’re using different fontsizes all the time, making it hard to read. Also, if you’re so pro, shouldn’t you be using full frame? Especially since you’re shooting weddings and concerts (APS-C cameras works as well, ofc!).
I’m also not very impressed with many of the pictures you’ve posted on your site.
But, i didn’t come here to be an a-hole. Sorry about that ;-)
On topic: I just bought the A77 with the 16-50, and i must say that i love the lens! (and the camera). I highly recommend both the lens and the camera.
