Looks a lot like my brother’s S1500 except the zoom range(12x vs 24x). It is a fine camera for a casual user and this sounds just like it as well.

Walmart ran a special on these for $120, got the last one in town, worth every penny. Bottom line: It’s a beater, something you can knock around in dusty, dirty & other outdoor situations w/out much worry for the investment & get decent performance on some medium-difficulty shots. Zooms of wildlife, sports/moving wildlife (the 4250 has a scene-recognition & scene-preset “sports” mode that seems to respond well - albeit not consistently - in bright conditions).
Cons: Won’t do exactly what you want, so you’ll have to learn how to negotiate it’s tendencies.
- Flashes will be missed time to time.
- Autofocus is a bit harebrained at moments (learn to use “macro” mode).
- Noisy in dark high-contrast conditions.
- Requires good lighting & a tripod.
- Sometimes the buffer will take its own sweet time.
- Distortion & fringing, including blue diffraction.
- Bright purple/magenta lens flares (typically direct shots of sunsets when not in “sunset” mode).
Pros:
The AF problem can be compensated by pushing it into regular macro mode. The AF will bead in on the subject more reliable in macro mode, with zooms up to 24x optical & 95x digital.
Given a patient-enough subject & time to respond to the demands of the situation, very fine outdoor shots (nature, landscape, street…).
Very detailed ultra-macro/closeup shots (but with blue fringing on the periphery of the picture).
Many shots can be pushed/tweaked using a decent photo editor (GIMP, Pain.net, Paintshop, Photoshop, etc…).

Got to love the rivals they list, they are all 2 to 3 times the price. How does that make them rivals?????
