I prefer the design of the S2 over the J1,2,3 or 4. Its a cleaner look and I find the command dial is utterly pointless on the J.

Saying that if I needed a basic 1” camera ill go for the Samsung NX mini, its slimmer and better looking (In my opinion).

For what it’s worth, i just did a test, my S2 with 10mm f2.8 vs a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ70. The 16mp Panasonic comes out with softer images. The S2 is sharper. It MAY, of course, be the 10mm lense making the difference. To be honest, I bought the S2 on impulse as it was an end of line / imperfect deal at a UK airport tax free ... i thought I’d play with it and sell it on ... getting a good deal with the 10mm plus the kit lense (which I never use being a prime lense fetishist) ... well, this S2 has seduced me. I’m exactly the type of person who has been waiting for a Pentax full frame (have a huge collection of PK mount lenses) and like good quality pics. For the size (and I do travel a lot and like to travel as light as possible), this is a cracking little thing and ... oh dear, I’m looking at getting more lenses .... more expense ... when i got this, I never thought i’d be so taken with it. The Lumix is great if you have to grab one camera to take on a cruise ... but the sharpness of the shots through the 10mm lense on the S2 ... that swings it for me
