I’ve owned this camera for almost 3 months now, and despite the stylish design (and good advertisement), it’s not as cool as expected. Being an artist who likes taking pictures of works in progress I found the macro problem really really annoying. Image quality also bothered me a lot, and even though I’m not a pro photographer I still demand a decent photo. As you said, the electronic stabilizer is somewhat useless, and you need dead steady hands when taking photos.
For a cheap camera it’s ok, but if you want finer quality, it’s not such a good choice.

Camera takes great pictures and has great options HOWEVER—- the lens has problems retracting. It sticks and then drains down the battery or gives a lens error. I have had this camera only 5 months and had this problem for at least 2 1/2 of those months. Very annoying. Great when working but due to common lens problem for this model, not reliable consistently.

bought one…a year later the shutter stopped opening completely. like a fool bought a second one…a year later the lens started ‘shuddering’ when opening and closing, then it stopped altogether. had a nikon ftn 35mm 30 years ago, used it flawless at -60F when i lived with the eskimos for two years above the artic circle…never again nikon…buying a sony dslr shortly.
