You used to make great sample pics on great locations. What’s wrong now?

Dear Matt Grayson,

thanks for your extensive review of the Olympus SH-50. One more nice little camera from Olympus, but I don’t agree with your rating. 4.5 for Image Quality - I think that’s a joke.

Have you seen your own testshots in 1:1-ratio? Maybe the last one (landscape with the stonehouse). I think the flowers and bushes in front of the house looks more like a painting from Van Gogh than a picture from a camera.

It’s not a wonder. 16 Megapixel on a small sensor - what do we expect? I own a Oly VR-330, a similar little camera with 14 Megapixel on a 1/2.3”-sensor. The imagequality is similar to that new model. I use only 8 Megapixel-setting for Images - the IQ is maybe 3 out of 5.

Thanks - have a nice day

Trust me VBfan, it out-performs the wb850f which has the same sensor size and pixel counts. Even for the last image which you complained about, you can consider it a four star performer for there are rarely compacts which venture for that zoom (and ISO range) and have a somewhat good image (maybe with a rating of between 3.5 and 4). The wb850f and sx280hs struggle when they get beyond 450mm (35mm equivalent) zoom. My only moan is they rated tz60 4.5 for its horrible lens.
