The new Sony DSC WX 10 is clearly a serious rival that you somehow missed.

Here is a short comment about the touch screen interface on a compact camera. I have many years of experiences with digital cameras and I was quite sceptical about touch screen interface when I bought Sony TX-5 (http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/sony_cybershot_dsc_tx5_review/) for my girlfriend (she wanted a stylish but waterproof camera). The camera also features only four controls besides the touch screen (on-off, shutter release button, zoom and play). It soon turned out that the touch screen is more useful option as the ordinary menu systems for inexperienced photographers like she is. Before TX-5 she owned a basic Nikon compact camera on which the mode button was constantly on the little green camera for fully automatic mode and she never used any other settings. With the new touch screen interface she actually uses the possibilities of the camera, like scene modes, panorama, slow flash sync and similar. After watching her using the camera it seems that the touch screen interface is much more intuitive as the classic approach with the 4-way buttons and menus and it seems that it actually helps inexperienced photographers get most out of their cameras.

In the conclusion you say that it has stereo sound - on the Panasonic website it says it has mono sound (also on your specs page).
