Like ergonomics and waterproof body however picture quality is below what I would like to see. Noisy noisyness even at low ISO levels pushes me to return the model though I’m a big fan of Pentax brand :(

Poor. Don’t trash your money in this camera. It’s very bad, The Largan Chameleon XP Camera is better. I do cry when I saw great error bought it.

Pricewise, I would like to stay below the 600 dollar mark if possible. The caveat being that if it’s not possible for me to give her the tools she needs to take good photographs and learn more about photography, I am willing to go higher.

I have to disagree with the picture quality assessment that you have provided for this camera. I have shot more than 60,000 pictures so far and the more I use this camera the better they come out. The best ones I have them on the internet. Just do a search on or for shutterbroke. Most of the pictures I take are using the landscape mode with my favorite manual presets turned on. The night photographs specially can be truly excellent if you set the camera manually for those shots. I agree that 4 sec at times are not enough but with enough light it’s amazing what you can accomplish with this little camera. It’s weatherproofing has allowed me to dare take pics that I normally wouldn’t take with any other camera. My drawback would be not being able to have total manual control but other than that can’t complain much. I do agree that at higher isos the quality suffers but I was used to that with film also, so that’s no big deal for me. Thanks for the tips. It did alert me to some features that are available but that I normally don’t bother with them.
