The Jobo Giga Vu Pro has a 3.8" colour, 320 x 240 pixel LCD screen (QVGA) with adjustable brightness. The Jobo Giga Vu Pro's built-in hard drive is either 40Gb or 60Gb (I reviewed the 40Gb version). The Jobo Giga Vu Pro has built-in support for Compact Flash(Type I/II) and Microdrive memory cards. Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, SmartMedia, SecureDigital, and Multimedia memory cards are also supported via an optional CF adaptor (JOBO Adapter SECF61). The Jobo Giga Vu Pro has dimensions of 145 x 107 x 38 mm and weighs 420 grams when the battery is fitted.

A number of different file types and formats are supported by the the Jobo Giga Vu Pro. For digital photos, both JPEG and RAW files can be viewed. There are a number of caveats that you should be aware of though. The maximum image size is 16.9 megapixels and the JPEG within the RAW file header is used for display in full-screen mode (not the actual RAW file). The version of firmware that I tested (1.05) supports RAW files from over 70 different camera models - the Jobo website has a full list (dated May 2005). With the introduction of the latest firmware version (1.05) the Jobo Giga Vu Pro also supports the Adobe DNG format.

For digital movies, the Jobo Giga Vu Pro can playback MPEG 1,2,4 and DIVX 3, 4/5 formats. For digital music, MP3 and WAV files are supported. The Jobo Giga Vu Pro is Pictbridge compatible, which means that you can print directly to any Pictbridge compatible printer. DPOF print ordering is supported so that you can choose which photos you want to print.

The Jobo Giga Vu Pro has a touchscreen facility for adding copyright information, keywords and prefixes to the EXIF information of JPEG images. You can review the exposure of your images using the Levels facility which allows you to view the exposure levels of all 3 colour channels individually or as combined RGB. Channel mode allows you to view the content of different RGB channels as a black and white image. There is a dust detector option which displays the location of dust on the LCD after an image is shot of a white/grey card or clear blue sky etc.

The Jobo Giga Vu Pro uses a 2200mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery. You can also power it using the supplied AC adapter. The Jobo Giga Vu Pro has a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection for PC and Mac and an Audio/Video out jack which supports PAL and NTSC televisions. For playback of music the Jobo Giga Vu Pro has a mono dynamic speaker or you connect a set of headphones (supplied) to the stereo 3.5mm headphone jack. An optional WiFi Compact Flash adapter allows you to transfer information to and from the Giga Vu Pro via a WiFi network.

The contents of the the Jobo Giga Vu Pro kit that I received for review from Jobo included a Protective Cover, AC adapter, AV cable, Lithium-Ion battery, Earphones, User Manual and USB Cable.
