While the Samsung NV100HDís retro looks and slightly fiddly touch screen operation may attract and repulse in equal numbers, its solidly constructed feel and reasonably well exposed images straight out of the camera should mean thereís little in the way of post processing needed by those looking to avoid hours slumped in front of a computer screen. Along as you like a well saturated, sharpened look to your images that is. Again it feels like Samsung (and other manufacturers) are simply playing the numbers game with the latest raft of 13, 14 and 15 megapixel consumer compacts, the actual physical size of the sensors being no larger than that afforded their 12 megapixel brethren to keep matters otherwise compact. Still, the NV100HD does look different to the rest of its direct rivals and Samsung is to be commended for at least attempting to stand out from the crowd with innovations of its own. Like most point and shoot snapshot cameras the NV100HD is not 100% perfect, but if for whatever reason you do feel you need a pocket camera with a huge resolution, for the money being asked itís a reasonably sound option. Incidentally if youíre not bothered about a touch screen, you could save a few more pennies and just go for Samsungís 13.6 megapixel L310W instead.
