Canon EOS-1D X Mark II Preview

Just in time for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II DSLR camera is a brand new flagship DSLR camera. Outwardly the EOS-1D X Mark II looks very similar to its 4-year-old predecessor, but inside it boasts a lot of cutting-edge features. These include a brand new 20.2 megapixel full-frame sensor with an on-chip analog to digital convertor, 14fps continuous shooting with full auto-focus and metering and up to 170 RAW file buffer (16 fps in Live View mode) and an ISO range of 100-51,200, expandable to 50-409,600.

Canon EOS-1D X Mark II

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark II is a new flagship DSLR camera that's capable of shooting 14 frames per second with full AF/AE tracking and 16 fps in Live View mode. With the new CFast 2.0 card capability, the camera can deliver a burst of unlimited JPEGs or 170 RAW images in continuous high speed shooting. The EOS 1D X Mark II features a new 20.2 MP full frame CMOS sensor and new Al Servo AF III+, improved 61-point AF system with 41 cross-type AF points, new 360k RGB+IR metering sensor, Dual “DIGIC 6+” processors, 4K video capture up to 60p and an ISO range of 100 to 51200 (expandable from 50 up to 409600).

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark II will be available in the UK in May for £5199.99 body-only.

In the USA, the estimated retail price for the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II is $5999 (MSRP) for the body or $6299 for the Premium Kit which includes a 64 GB CFast memory card and card reader. The new camera is scheduled to begin shipping to authorized Canon USA dealers in April 2016

Phottix Odin II TTL Trigger Now Available

The Phottix Odin II TTL flash trigger is now available for purchase. Introduced at Photokina 2014, the Odin II features 32 channels and supports up to five groups. The Odin II UI and control system has been overhauled making it faster and easier to use. An AF Assist light has been added for improved focusing when used in low-light conditions. Additionally, the, the Odin II offers photographers a way to personalise their Odins and prevent triggering from other units. By entering a 4 digit ID number, a photographer's Odin II receivers will only trigger by transmitters using the same ID. The Odin II for Canon is available now in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France and United Arab Emirates. The Odin II for Nikon will be available a few weeks later. The Sony version will be introduced in late spring.

Adobe Theatre Returns to The Photography Show

The Adobe Theatre will return for the second year at The Photography Show, held at NEC Birmingham, 19-22 March 2016. Thirty-minute sessions are planned for the theatre across the four-day event, exploring the various ways in which photographers can process and edit their photos. "We’re delighted to have the opportunity to showcase what the modern day photographer needs to know, covering all aspects of a photographic journey," says Adobe Principal Solutions Consultant Richard Curtis. The Societies’ Photographer of the Year Awards Winners Announced

The Societies have announced the overall winners of their photography competition. Chris Chambers from West Yorkshire was awarded the Photographer of the Year title during the Awards Dinner at the Societies' annual convention. In addition to receiving his trophy Chris also walked away with a Fujifilm XT1 Camera with XF56 1.2 Lens and a fully paid ticket to the WPPI Convention in Las Vegas with a flight and 5 nights accommodation to the value of £3,200.

The USB 3.1 Gen1 CA1-series utilises dual connectors, including Type-C and A, combining up to 130MB/s transfer speed with durability and design. Ideal for storing photos, music, videos and other data on-the-go, thenew USB CA1 will be available from February 2016 in 16/32/64GB capacities.

Olympus PEN-F Preview

‘A masterpiece for creating your own masterpiece’ is the confident pitch for the latest Micro Four Thirds compact system camera from Olympus: the Pen-F.  Rather than replace the formerly range topping E-P5 in the Pen line up however, Olympus suggested to Photography Blog at its London preview that the new rangefinder-styled camera – if successful – should form a new, independent strand on its own.

Manfrotto 190Go! Carbon Now Available in UK

Manfrotto UK have announced the extension of the 190go! range with a new lightweight and compact carbon fibre tripod. Now available in carbon fibre, the 190Go! Carbon is 18% lighter than the current 190 range. When the tripod is closed it measures only 45cm (17.70") and weighs just 1.67kg. The 90° column and the leg angle selectors enable photographers to get low down to the ground, reaching a minimum height of 7cm (2.5"). The 190Go! also includes an Easy Link attachment in the top casting which enables instant connection between the tripod and a variety of accessories, including LED lights, reflectors and other pieces of gear.

Hahnemühle FineArt Panoramic Papers

Hahnemühle have added two panoramic formats to their FineArt Photo Rag papers. The matte-coated Photo Rag 308 and the high-gloss Photo Rag Baryta are now available in 21x59,4cm (8.27"x23.386") size. The moderate 21cm width of these papers ensures that most LTR size fine art printers will accommodate this format.
