Light & Land moves into new territory: Filmmaking for Photographers with Phil Coates

22 December 2011

Light & Land has launched a brand new Filmmaking workshop, in association with remote location cameraman Phil Coates.  Phil has filmed at the most remote locations in the world, including all three ‘Poles’ – the North Pole, South Pole, and the third ‘pole’ Mount Everest.  Phil has also filmed in some of the most challenging and extreme environments on earth in temperatures from -43°C to +48°C and altitudes of up to 8,000 metres.

Phil’s previous documentary productions for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Discovery International and National Geographic Television include; North Pole: Living On Thin Ice’, ‘Everest Beyond The Limit’, ‘Blizzard Race To The Pole’, ‘Ice Break Heart’, ‘Going North’ and ‘Five Miles High’.

With most DSLRs and digital compacts now equipped with full HD video and live view, a whole world of new creative opportunities has opened up for traditional photographers. The big question is how do they harness this new found power of their camera and produce films which tell a compelling and entertaining story?

This new Light & Land ‘Filmmaking For Photographers’ workshop will help clients demystify the process of shooting video on their DSLR or compact camera. It will also explore both the technical and craft based skills required when shooting video and storytelling, through the medium of moving image.

Based at the Four Pillars Hotel within the Cotswold Water Park, nr Cirencester this weekend workshop will be fun, informative and relevant to all - from first time video shooters, those who may have experimented with video on their cameras, right through to those who haven’t even dared to go near that little ‘red button’!

In this brand new workshop, delegates will achieve a greater understanding of the production process from script to screen and improve the enjoyment and satisfaction from their photographic equipment by embracing new creative opportunities.

For more information or to book, visit http://www.lightandland.co.uk or simply contact the Light & Land office on 01432 839111/email info@lightandland.co.uk.
