Fujifilm Updates X-Mount Lens Roadmap

Fujifilm has released a new roadmap for its X-mount lenses. The updated chart includes one new lens (the Fujinon XF90mm f/2 R), whilst a previously announced but hitherto unnamed ultra-wide angle lens has now been confirmed as the Fujinon XF16mm f/1.4 R. Additionally, the company has changed the release dates for three lenses that we have already seen on earlier editions of the roadmap. The next available lens will be the XF50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR, which is now scheduled to hit the shops at the end of this year. This will be Fujifilm’s second weather resistant lens designed to partner its X-T1 camera. The Fujinon XF16-55mm f/2.8 R WR, on the other hand, has been pushed back to 2015 Q1. The still unspecified "super tele photo zoom lens" is now being promised to arrive at the end of that year.

Fujifilm releases a new roadmap for X mount lenses

July 24, 2014

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is pleased to release an updated road map for X mount interchangeable lenses.

A large-diameter medium telephoto lens (the XF90mmF2 R) features for the first time on the development road map for end 2015. The next available lens will be the XF50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR. Following on from the XF18-135mm lens, this will be Fujifilm’s second weather resistant lens designed to partner its X-T1 camera.

Other updates to the road map include the previously announced “Ultra-wide angle lens” being confirmed as the “XF16mmF1.4 R” with a guide launch date of mid 2015. And the planned launch of the XF16-55mmF2.8 R WR lens moving to Spring 2015 and the Super Tele-Photo Zoom lens to Winter 2015.

Highly regarded for their outstanding image quality, resolution and well-built bodies, the unique X mount lens range now includes super-wide angle to super-telephoto range lenses and a large-diameter lens with rich bokeh and high resolution.

  1. A good camera in bad hands will not produce good pictures.

    see e.g. here for much better results;

  2. I am so glad that I invested in Sony's RX1 and saved myself from being caught in the never-ending updating your lens game, as well as all that baggage entailed in lugging those lenses around with you. I also bought another fixed lense version, the RX10 for zoom capacity, rather then go that route. I don't need anything more than those two to cover all my bases.

  3. A bad camera and a good eye for art, composition, and subject matter, plus good software in the hands of someone who knows how to use it can beat a good camera. And I am getting so sick of people who utilize HDR. Give us a break already, it's artificial looking and highly over-done.
