The winners of the Hasselblad Masters Awards 2018 have been announced. Bronius Rudnickas, Hasselblad Marketing Manager: “Over 30 000 images were submitted to this year’s competition and that was a record, we are glad to see the competition is growing every year.” Every Hasselblad Masters award winner will hold the title of ‘Hasselblad Master’ and be a brand ambassador for two years. In addition, they will receive a brand new Hasselblad medium format camera and be invited to shoot for a collaborative project with Hasselblad. This project will be printed and released in the bi-annual Hasselblad Masters book.

Picfair is seeking a fresh generation of female photographers to share their perspectives on the world. The competition is open for entries from 26 October till 26 November 2017 and women of all nationalities and levels of experience are encouraged to enter. SkyPixel, in cooperation with DJI, have announced their 2017 SkyPixel Photo Contest. Running from October 26 to December 29, the SkyPixel 2017 Photo Contest welcomes submissions from both professionals and enthusiasts, who are invited to enter one or more of the three categories including Landscape, Portrait and the brand new Story, which calls for photographers to share not just the images they capture, but also the stories they curate. This year’s Grand Prize winner will receive a reward worth over €12,500; including a DJI Inspire 2 with Zenmuse X7 DL-S 16mm F2.8 ND ASPH, an iPhone X 256G, a Nikon D850 FX-format Digital SLR Camera Body, a Lowepro Pro Runner RL x450 AW II, a Manfrotto MKBFRC4-BH Befree Carbon Fiber Tripod with Ball Head, and more. Digital Camera Magazine's ‘Photographer of the Year 2018’ and ‘Young Photographer of the Year 2018’ competitions are now open for entries. The contests aim to discover the most exciting, talented photographers from all over the world, with a prize fund on offer worth more than £12,000, courtesy of sponsors Affinity Photo and MPB.com. Photographers can enter their images in eight themed categories, including wildlife, portraiture, black and white, travel, landscape, macro, street, and a separate category for images taken on mobile phones. The overall winner, crowned Photographer of the Year 2018 will receive a prize package worth more than £4,800. The presentation of the prizes of this year’s Felix Schoeller Photo Award took place on 14 October in the Museum of Cultural History in Osnabrück, Germany. The winners in the individual categories were Rodrigo Illescas (Portrait), Saskia Boelsums (Landscape/Nature), Mario Brand (Architecture/Industry), Alain Schroeder (Photojournalism/Editorial) and Matt Hulse (Free Choice/Conceptional Photography). Each of these winners received a cash prize of €2,000. As the highlight of the event, photographer Matt Hulse was invited to take the stage for a second time. He was presented with the Felix Schoeller Photo Award in Gold and an additional cash prize of 10,000 euros for his extraordinary project titled ‘Sniper’. The 150 photographs by the category winners and the winner of the Emerging Photographer Award can be seen in the Museum of Cultural History/Museum Quarter in Osnabrück until 25 February 2018.

The terms and conditions of participating in the E1|R1 Photo Award are now available online. As the first of its kind, the international E1|R1 Photo Award for professional photographers seeks the most beautiful and powerful photographs in the environment of the European long-distance paths, E1, for hikers, and R1 for cyclists. Entrants may submit photo series with at least three and at most four motifs to one of 4 categories including, “Culture and Landscape”, “Man and Nature”, “Sky and Earth” and “Animal and Nature”. The submission window opens on 1 December 2017 and closes on 31 March 2018. The winners in each individual category, the overall winner, as well as the winner of the prize for the promotion of young talent (chosen by Olympus) will be selected by a professional jury. The overall winner of the professional award will receive a prize to the value of 12,000 Euros, while the winner of each category will receive 3,500 Euros each.

The third edition of the ZEISS Photography Award is now open for entries. Launching with a new brief of “Seeing Beyond - Untold Stories”, photographers from around the world are invited to submit their best series of work before the competition closes on 6 February 2018. The winner and a shortlist of up to ten talented photographers will be announced on 3 April. The Hasselblad Masters Awards 2018 is now open to the public vote until the end of October 2017 on the company's website. This year’s competition was bigger than ever with 11 categories, including the brand new ‘Aerial’ sector that pays tribute to Hasselblad’s history of aerial photography. The public can vote by visiting Hasselblad’s website and select from the top 10 finalists in each category. Pond5 — the world’s largest marketplace for royalty-free HD and 4K video — and the Filmmakers Alliance have teamed up to host a short-film challenge with more than $4,000 in prizes. To take part in the contest, entitled "How Will You Tell Your Story," entrants need to create a short film (2-5 minutes) incorporating footage from the Pond5 collection (available to participants free of charge for use in the competition). The top 10 films entered will be screened at the awards ceremony, which will take place at the Montalban Theater on 8th November. Entries are now open for the search for the next winner of The Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year. The competition, which was set up by photographer Stuart Low in 2013, aims to promote Scotland, its National Trusts, and its landscape photographers. Photographers can submit entries to a variety of categories – including landscape, seascape, urban, youth, and overall winner – until entries close at midnight on Tuesday 14 November 2017. The Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers (SINWP) has announced the winners of the Wonders of Wildlife photography competition. Malcolm Blackburn from Derbyshire, England was chosen as the winner for his image entitled Zebras at Dawn. "It was taken just after 6:00 am after a dry spell which produced the dust in the shot," Malcolm says. "It was taken on my Canon 5D Mk3 and the Canon 100-400mm Mk2 lens at 400mm. Exposure was 1/500 at f8 and 640 ISO.’’ The runners-up include Ian Stone from Kent and Lawrence Eagling from County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

Open to all professional photographers who are registered and resident in a European country, the FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year Awards offer nine main categories including Commercial, Fashion, Illustration/DigitalArt, Landscape, Portrait, Reportage/Photojournalism, Sports, Wildlife and Wedding. Huawei has joined forces with youth culture magazine, Dazed, to create a photography initiative that is designed to unlock the potential of future talent. ‘Reveal the Real You’; is a community-led photo project that will see three collaborators awarded a £10,000 bursary to donate to the community cause of their choice. Andrew Garrihy; Huawei Europe, CMO said: “The photography capabilities on our phones allow anyone to take thought provoking images. Putting that power in people’s hands, has given everyone a platform to tell their story and help others understand more about their passions and beliefs through images. Reveal the Real You is simply an extension of what people do every day. We want to give inspired, committed people the opportunity to make a difference in their local community; give them a platform to get their voice heard and make things they never thought possible happen.” People interested in entering simply need to share a few sentences on their chosen community and 3 – 5 relevant images from their photography portfolio and as Reveal the Real You gathers momentum it will culminate in a shortlist of twenty photographers being given Huawei P10 smartphones to document their stories.
