GoPro has just released its new wearable and gear-mountable HD HERO2 camera, which is capable of capturing 11-megapixel stills and 1080p Full HD.videos. Featuring a totally redesigned wide-angle lens, an innovative mounting system and a new processor that delivers twice the processing power of its predecessor, the GoPro HD HERO2 can capture full-resolution still photographs at 10fps. Additionally, with the arrival of GoPro’s new Wi-Fi BacPac and Wi-Fi Remote products slated for release this winter, the HD HERO2 will enable video remote control via the Wi-Fi Remote, smartphones, tablets and computers as well as enabling live video broadcast from anywhere there is Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot. Canon today announced further details about the Pro Solutions show held on 25th and 26th October 2011 at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London. This year the show will feature a live professional film set hosted by digital cinematographer Phillip Bloom and remote location filmmaker and photographer Phil Coates.  The live demonstrations will feature Canon’s latest XF range of professional camcorders, Canon broadcast lenses and EOS DSLR cameras. Additionally, the show will feature a large-scale panorama of London shot on the EOS 5D Mark II with an EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens using a GigaPan Epic Pro moving head. The seminar schedule has also been finalised, and can be found at the website below.

JVC has revealed the MSRP of its GC-PX10 hybrid digital camera. Announced in September, the JVC GC-PX10 takes 12-megapixel stills and 1080p full HD video sampled at 36Mbps. Featuring 32 gigabytes of built-in flash memory plus a slot for SDXC/SDHC/SD cards, the JVC GC-PX10 can even shoot stills and video simultaneously. Toshiba today introduced a trio of Full HD camcorders. The Toshiba X416 ($319.99) is a top-of-the line CAMILEO camcorder that offers 23x optical zoom, electronic image stabilisation, 16GB of built-in memory and SDXC memory card support. The Toshiba CAMILEO X400 ($279.99) offers a similar feature set sans the 16GB on-board storage. Both camcorders come equipped with a 5-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor that’s also capable of capturing stills. The third model, called the Toshiba CAMILEO X200 ($229.99, pictured), offers 12x optical zoom, an 8-megapixel CMOS sensor, 128MB of built-in memory and SDXC support. The CAMILEO X400 and X200 camcorders are now available for purchase, while the X416 will be available starting on 10 October 2011.

Panasonic has announced the development of a compact, dual-lens camcorder that records both 2D and 3D video footage. Outfitted with Panasonic’s Double 3MOS System, the new HDC-Z10000 camcorder is billed as the world’s first integrated twin-lens 2D/3D camcorder that is officially compatible with the AVCHD 3D/Progressive standard. The Double 3MOS System features two 3MOS sensors (with an effective pixel count of 6.57 megapixels) and two large-diameter f/1.5 lenses treated with Nano Surface Coating. Additionally, the Panasonic HDC-Z10000 offers both manual controls for professionals and an intelligent auto mode for beginners. On the audio front, the HDC-Z10000 has built-in microphones for recording Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound / 2-channel stereo, and also features two XLR audio inputs with a 48-V phantom power supply for external microphone use. The new Panasonic 3D camcorder is planned to be released in winter this year, and will be on display at IFA 2011.

Kodak has unveiled a robust special edition of the Kodak Playsport pocket video camera. “The BURTON Edition of the Playsport Camera goes where you want to go, even in the harshest winter conditions,” said Phil Scott, Vice President of Marketing, Digital Capture and Accessories, Kodak. “This little pocket-sized video camera is waterproof, and shockproof so no need to worry about carving through fresh powder or hitting a rail or hard pack in a terrain park. Canon is showcasing its strongest-ever product portfolio at IBC 2011, the leading tradeshow for media and broadcast professionals. Canon’s X-series camcorders will all be on display, with EOS HD Digital SLR cameras and a variety of EF lens solutions. IBC 2011 takes place at the RAI Amsterdam from 9-13 September.

Rollei has launched three new Full HD camcorders that also take five-megapixel stills. The Rollei Movieline SD 800 P (€349.95, pictured) is probably Rollei’s most interesting digital video camera to date with 8x optical zoom, image stabilisation and… a built-in projector! Note though that the projector’s specifications are somewhat basic, with a resolution of only 320x280 pixels. Other highlights include a 3” touch-sensitive screen and a variety of scene modes. The Movieline SD 80 (€199.95) is a smaller, entry-level model that nevertheless offers a similar 8x zoom range and 3” touchscreen, plus time-lapse and slow-motion recording, face detection and electronic image stabilisation. Finally, the Movieline SD 230 (€249.95) boasts 23x optical zoom, a 3.5” widescreen touch panel, dual video recording function and image stabilisation. All of these models are equipped with 1/3.2 type CMOS sensors and SD/SDHC card slots, and each comes with an HDMI cable as standard.

The Toshiba Camileo B10 and Camileo P100 Full HD digital video cameras, announced back in April, are now available in the US. The Toshiba Camileo B10 is a neat, robust yet lightweight and pocket sized camcorder that can be kept close at hand for spontaneous shots, while the Toshiba Camileo P100 is a more advanced model with 5x optical and 8x “advanced” zoom. The B10 features a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor, while the P100 has an 8-megapixel one. Thanks to their high-resolution imagers, both can capture stills in addition to recording Full HD video footage. Furthermore, both devices are SDXC compliant, and each features an Upload Button, which allows easy uploading of videos to social networks. The Rollei Movieline SD40 and the Rollei Movieline SD55 are two new Full HD camcorders that also take five-megapixel stills. The Movieline SD40 (€119.90, pictured) has a fixed 5.23mm f/3.2 lens and offers 4x digital zoom, while the Movieline SD55 (€149.90)boasts a 5-25mm f/3.5-3.7 Rolei Apogon zoom lens. The BW10 comes in silver and yellow and features a rubberised coating for waterproofing down to a depth of six and a half feet. Olympus has mated a Full HD pocket camcorder to a high-end linear PCM recorder to produce a unique product called the Olympus LS-20M. Equipped with two condenser microphones, a fixed-focal-length auto-focus lens and two LCD panels, the Olympus LS-20M will record 1080p high-definition video with 24 bit/96 hHz linear PCM stereo sound. Also on board are four Magic Movie special effects filters borrowed from the manufacturer’s line-up of still cameras, including Rock, Sketch, Pinhole and Pop Art. Video and audio files are saved on SD and SDHC cards, while power is supplied by a proprietary Li-ion battery pack. The Olympus LS-20M will be available in June, at an estimated street price of $299.99.
