On display at the Mark Lakin Photography Gallery, the photographic exhibition “One Life” is a retrospective of the photographer’s most recent travels through Africa, Cuba, India and Iceland. The images on show represent Lakin’s journey to explore the distinct lifestyles, eclectic architecture, and varied landscapes of parallel civilizations to our modern 21st century. Highlights from the exhibition include images of the traditional tribes of Southern Ethiopia from a humanitarian expedition with legendary explorer Kingsley Holgate, the animals of the great migration in Tanzania, a recent poverty immersion experience in Mozambique for the non-profit organization CouldYou?, and a recent trip to Malawi profiling the lives of children in need.Situated in the burgeoning arts scene of Manhattan’s West Village, the Mark Lakin Photography Galleryis open seven days a week from 12pm to 9pm.

Phase One has announced 2 new Capture One 7 webinars scheduled for April. Hosted by a Phase One imaging expert, these interactive sessions encourage questions before and during each online seminar. Cities at Dawn have issued the call for submissions for its week-long pop-up photography festival called WeLovePhoto! Held at Foyles Bookshop in mid-June this year, WeLovePhoto! aims to inspire and help the amateur photographers of London bring their photography to the next level through a series of workshops, talks, walks and an exhibition space where photographers can come to learn, share and collaborate. The festival will launch with a group exhibition of photographs themed around the area of Charing Cross Road. The organisers are looking for amateur and professional photographers to submit their best photos that are inspired by this iconic street, and the best work will join the exhibition. The Annenberg Space for Photography hasannounced its next installation, Helmut Newton, featuring the work of the revolutionary fashion photographer. Opening on 29th June, this is the first exhibition of Helmut Newton’s work outside of gallery shows in Los Angeles, his long-time winter residence, the organisers say. Images from Newton’s first three books - White Women, Sleepless Nights and Big Nudes - will be on view through 8 September 2013. The second edition of the New Wave Photography exhibition recognises the rise of contemporary photography from the CEE region. From 19th to 27th April the Crypt Gallery in London will host 12 artists, exhibiting fine art photography from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Surrealism, minimalist landscape, classical nude photography, gum print, lomography and digital montage demonstrate the diversity of the work on display. Hungarian photographers Benedek Bognár and Zoltán Békefy both draw inspiration from classical imagery while creating something completely new, while the Polish artist Maciej Boksa specialises in photographs intended to guide the viewer into an alternative perception of reality. Martin Hruška is showing a collection of his marine life photographs. Lucie Jestrabikova’s photos have been created by using her body to create fascinating abstract compositions, while Réka Kóti explores the creative boundaries of Lomography. Where Slovakian artist Veronika Otepková proves that digital photography can be both innovative and classically beautiful, Polish photographer Przemys?aw Kuci?ski uses a 19th century technique called gum print to create black and white nude images. On Monday 29 April, best-selling author and photographer Steve Bloom will deliver a lecture as part of PhotoVoice’s ‘Words on Monday’ series. “Witness silverback mountain gorillas deep in the rainforest; endangered black rhino drinking at a moonlit waterhole; remote cultures in Ethiopia’s Omo Valley; Mozambican migrant workers toiling in a gold mine three kilometres below ground; and fishermen on the Niger River,” the charity said in a statement. “In this unforgettable event, Steve captures the diversity of the continent where he grew up, and where he has felt compelled to return throughout his life.” The lecture will take place at Kings Place, 90 York Way, London, N1 9AG, starting at 7pm. Martin Usborne’s new photographic exhibition, The Silence of Dogs in Cars, is now on display at the Little Black Gallery in London. Usborne’s photographs focus on the ever-curious relationship between humans and other animals. The Silence of Dogs in Cars was inspired by a childhood memory of waiting in a car whilst his parents were shopping in a supermarket, and the youthful fear that they would not return. He will be signing copies of his book of the same name, which was awarded ‘Best in Show’ in the Creative Review Photography Annual, on Saturday 23rd March from 11:30am-12:30pm. The exhibition is on show until 27th April. The Little Black gallery is located at 13A Park Walk, London SW10 0AJ.

A new exhibition ‘Studio Sittings’ at Holland Park’s Leighton House explores the nature of the artist’s studio and the artist’s relationship with their personal, creative space through a series of photographs of Royal Academicians past and present. The exhibition features a series of photographs of some of the most celebrated Royal Academicians in recent times taken by Anne Purkiss, who has been photographing Royal Academicians for over 25 years. The images have never been show together as a collection and they provide a telling insight into the working environment and creative spaces of today’s foremost artists, the organisers say. The exhibition runs at Leighton House Museum, 12 Holland Park Road, Kensington, W14 8LZ from 15 March – 12 May 2013.

X-Rite has announced its schedule of March 2013 webinars. The first online seminar, “Simply Amazing Colour: Take Control of your Monitor, Printer and Camera,” will take place from 12pm EDT on 18th March. This webinar will review the company’s ColorMunki solutions including software demonstrations and discussions of how each solution is used. The second webinar, “Professional Monitor Calibration for Still & Video,” will be held from 12pm EDT on 25th March, and will review how to access and utilise the video presets in i1Profiler software and briefly look at use of ColorCheckers in the video footage as a visual reference. Finally the third webinar, “Fine Art Travel Photography with Andy Katz” will take place from 11am and 1pm EDT on 27th March. Andy will talk about how he communicates with people, listens to their stories, and creates the relationships that allow him to capture beautiful and revealing portraits.

Tamron USA will host an in-the-field photographic workshop series at eight state parks in 2013. “Tamron USA is uniquely positioned to help novice and enthusiast photographers harness the beauty of these natural resources to improve their own landscape and nature photography skills,” says Stacie Errera, Tamron USA’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Plus, because the state parks on this tour, as well as the other parks in the system, are so accessible and conveniently located, workshop attendees have a great venue to go back to season after season to continue honing those skills.” Photographers participating in Tamron’s state park photography workshops will be able to borrow Tamron lenses to take out in the field.
