Canon SX100 ISDigiCamReview have reviewed the Canon SX100 IS, the first camera in the new SX series, offering a 10x zoom, image stabilized lens and 8 megapixel resolution.

“Image quality is very good - with excellent colour, with high levels of saturation, contrast and detail. The only image problems were higher than average noise when the ISO setting is raised above ISO200, and higher than average purple fringing. There was also some red eye in group photos, but overall red-eye was generally quite low. The camera did a good job focusing even in low light thanks to the focus assist lamp, and had a high success rate due to the built in optical image stabilisation. There was some noticable vignetting (darkened corners) when the zoom was fully extended, but normally there was no vignetting, nor did I notice barrel or pincushion distortion.”

Olympus SP-560 UZCNET have reviewed the Olympus SP-560 UZ, the successor to the SP-550 UZ, which adds Face Detection and a new 8 megapixel sensor.

“Unfortunately, the SP-560UZ’s biggest feature is also one of its greatest weaknesses. While its lens is long and wide, it simply isn’t very sharp. Regardless of the lens position and focus, pictures taken on the SP-560UZ generally look soft. Fine details, like text focused upon from a great distance, can appear fuzzy regardless of focus, shutter speed, or ISO sensitivity. Beyond the softness, significant noise further hurts the camera’s pictures. Notable grain appears at ISO 200, and gets significantly worse as sensitivity gets higher. At ISO 400 and higher, noise consumes fine details, rendering textures muddled.”

Fujifilm S5800TrustedReviews have reviewed the Fujifilm S5800, an 8 megapixel digital camera with a 10x, 38mm to 380mm zoom lens.

“Like the S5700 before it, the FinePix S5800 offers more photographic control than anything else at the price. Excellent ergonomics, good build quality and good performance belie its low cost. It would make an ideal camera for anyone on a tight budget who wants to learn more about creative photography. The lack of image stabilisation is a disadvantage, but not a crippling one, however it’s definitely not worth binning your S5700 to upgrade.”

Casio EX-S10TrustedReviews have reviewed the new Casio EX-S10, the world’s smallest and thinnest 10.1 megapixel digital camera.

“With such a wide ISO range, the camera suffers from about ISO 800, when noise starts to get really noticeable. At ISO 1600 it really is problematic with blotchy green and blue speckles invading the images. Exposures are pretty reasonable on the whole, though the camera struggled with pure white subjects, and exposure compensation should be used for best results. Impressively the wide dynamic range function works well, with some tricky shots coming up trumps. Colour too is generally good and accurate across a broad range of lighting conditions.”

Canon ES2PCMag have reviewed the new Canon ES2 compact photo printer.

“Output qualifies as true photo quality in almost every way, but with one small flaw. For some images at some resolutions, diagonal lines—as in spokes on a bicycle wheel—print with jagged edges. This is only a minor annoyance, however. Most photos don’t include straight diagonal lines, and even for those that do, the problem doesn’t always show up. Overall, the photos are at least a match for anything you’ll get from, say, your local drugstore.”

“Panasonic’s new 9.1-megapixel DMC-TZ15 digicam is the latest in its ‘Travellers’ Zoom’ series of cameras. Replacing the 7.2-megapixel TZ3, it introduces a swag of new features that will appeal to point-and-shoot photographers who want a slim camera with a long zoom lens. The TZ15’s body is marginally smaller and lighter than its predecessor but just as pocketable and equally well-built.”

Nikon L15Imaging Resource have reviewed the Nikon L15 camera, which features an 8 megapixel sensor, 3x zoom lens (35-105mm) and a 2.8 inch LCD screen.

“Overall, the Nikon Coolpix L15 performed well in terms of exposure and color accuracy outdoors. However, detail definition and noise performance were disappointing when the camera needed to raise the ISO setting. Under brighter conditions, the Nikon L15 captured much better detail. You’ll get the best results when shooting in good lighting, but expect higher noise and noise suppression when shooting at lower light levels without the flash.”
