Canon MP610TrustedReviews have tested the Canon MP610 PIXMA Photo All-in-One which combines photo lab quality printing with copy and scan functionality.

“Print quality from the PIXMA MP610 is very good, with black print coming through clear and strong and with very little feathering. Graphics print is also well reproduced, with even black print over coloured backgrounds looking clean and well registered. Our photo test prints showed smooth colour gradations in the sky and fine detail in the foreground of the image. There was plenty of detail in darker, shadowed areas, too.”

Canon SD950 ISDigitalCameraInfo have reviewed the GE A830 digital camera, which offers 8 megapixels and a 3x optical zoom lens.

“The GE A830 can currently be found online for less than $150. The A830’s assets include 8 megapixels, a 3x lens, and a 2.5-inch LCD screen. The body isn’t very durable and its components are low quality. Even though the GE A830 is inexpensive, there are other digital cameras that offer better quality components and features for about the same price.”

Gavin Stoker finds out…

Kodak Portra 800A survey of more than 9,000 professional photographers in the U.S. found that 75 percent of photographers say they will continue to use film. Black and white photography in particular was a popular reason for sticking with film, with 57% preferring to use film rather than digital to create a certain look and feel. “This survey indicates that film remains an important tool on which professional photographers rely to effectively create their work, so providing choice is of utmost importance. It’s an ‘and’ world where digital and film co-exist and complement each other.” said Mary Jane Hellyar, President, Film Products Group and Senior Vice President, Kodak. A similar survey run by Kodak in Europe also found that more than two-thirds of professional photographers surveyed plan to continue using film.

Does this apply to you - do you still exclusively use film, or a mixture of film and digital?

Canon iP4500A survey by J.D. Power and Associates has found that Canon ranks highest among photo printer brands in providing its customers with a satisfying experience. The survey of 814 customers ranked Canon highest with a score of 728 on a 1,000-point scale. Hewlett-Packard followed Canon in the rankings with a score of 707. “While price continues to be the most important factor to customers in shopping for a photo printer, because of fundamental price parity, other aspects of the product, like quality, ease of use and portability are largely defining brands, and are becoming the critical points of product differentiation between them.” said Steve Kirkeby, executive director of telecommunications and technology at J.D. Power and Associates.

Canon SD950 ISCNET have reviewed the Canon PowerShot SD950 IS digital camera, which features a 12.1 megapixel sensro and 3.7x image stabilised lens.

“For a 12-megapixel compact camera, the PowerShot SD950 IS fares well. But, if you don’t feel you need so many pixels, and unless you plan to print 11x17-inch images regularly, then you can probably get faster performance by choosing a camera with fewer megapixels, such as Canon’s 8-megapixel PowerShot SD870 IS—but you will have to give up the optical viewfinder if you do.”

Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2ThinkCamera have just reviewed Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

“Each version of Paint Shop Pro has moved it closer to being a challenger to Photoshop instead of Elements big competition. And Paint Shop Pro X2 shows no sign of slackening off the pace. It’s keenly priced and more than delivers the goods. It lives up to the ‘Pro’ side of its name. The game just got raised in photo software on the PC.”

Sony A700PhotoReview have reviewed the new 12 megapixel Sony A700 DSLR camera.

“Image noise was remarkably low at high ISO settings, even without the in-camera noise-reduction processing activated. We found slight colour noise at ISO settings between 2500 and 6400 but, at ISO 1600 it was no more obvious than the ISO levels we have found at ISO 400 with some DSLRs we’ve reviewed. Even at ISO 6400, both pattern and colour noise, though noticeable, were very well controlled and shots taken with this setting would be usable as long as they were not enlarged too much. “

Olympus E-510Megapixel.net have reviewed the Olympus E-510 DSLR camera, which features a built-in image stabiliser in the camera body. The E510 also has a new image processing engine that offers excellent noise performance and 3fps with a seven image RAW buffer in burst mode.

“The Olympus E-510 is an excellent amateur dSLR. It fits nicely just above the E-410 and its slightly higher price is easily justified by its additional features. The kit lens — the one used in this review — is of good quality, but the auto focus of the E-510 would likely perform even better with a slightly brighter lens such as some of the high quality lenses manufactured by Olympus. Currently, competition in entry-level digital SLR cameras is intense. And while it may not have the most attractive price, the E-510 offers a number of features that should make it very attractive.”

Panasonic Lumix FX100DCResource have reviewed the Panasonic Lumix FX100, a 12.2 megapixel digital camera with a new 1/1.72-inch large CCD and 28mm wide-angle lens.

“Simply put, the 12 Megapixel CCD on the FX100 is overkill for the point-and-shoot crowd. If you’re willing to give up a few million pixels, you can get the DMC-FX33 or DMC-FX55, which offer the same features, faster performance (due to smaller file sizes), and better image quality. Do I recommend the FX100? Absolutely. But unless you’re making absolutely gigantic prints (and will be keep the ISO really, really low), check out the FX33 or FX55 instead.”

Canon A650 ISCNET have reviewed the Canon A650 IS camera, which has a 12.1 megapixel sensor and a 6x optical zoom with optical image stabilization.

“The Canon PowerShot A650 IS proves that you don’t need to invest in an SLR to get manual controls and large, detailed pictures. As the new high-end member of Canon’s PowerShot A-series line of cameras, the 12-megapixel camera comes packed with manual exposure controls and other photographer-friendly features. Its bulky form won’t win any beauty pageants, but the camera’s substance more than makes up for its relative lack of style, and its sub-$500 price tag makes it look that much sweeter.”
