Unveiled as a prototype at the IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany, the 12x zoom Casio camera uses a new high speed 6 megapixel CMOS sensor and LSI image processing chip to achieve those amazing speeds. Other features offered by the high speed Casio include a sensor-shift image stabilization system, 2.8 inch widescreen TFT colour LCD, and electronic viewfinder. The precise product release date, pricing, brand name and specifications are still to be finalised.

Kodak have targeted the HDTV market by unveiling three new high definition Easyshare cameras and a HDTV dock. The V1253, V1233 and Z812 IS cameras all support the 16:9 aspect ratio, whilst the HDTV Dock allows you to manage your digital pictures while relaxing on the living room sofa. The Kodak V1253 (€299), V1233 (€249), and Z812 IS cameras (€299) will be available from September 2007. The Kodak HDTV Dock will be available from October 2007 for €99.

A study by J.D. Power and Associates has revealed that Nikon owners are the most satisfied DSLR customers around. With a an index score of 822 out of 1000, the Nikon D Series leads the DSLR segment, receiving notably high ratings from customers. The Fujifilm Finepix F series ranks highest in the point and shoot segment, Canon PowerShot SD series in premium point and shoot cameras, and Casio Exilim Zoom in the ultra slim segment. The study also found that DSLR camera owners take more than twice the amount of pictures per month than do owners in any other segment.

“The Olympus E-510 is a very capable camera. I enjoyed using it and it gave good results despite the weather. The build quality is good and it handles well. The Image stabiliser is effective and the dust reduction seems to work well as the images produced are clean with the Zuiko lenses ensuring sharpness. The Turbo III processor has ensured that noise remains at a minimium as much as possible and the noise test was a great surprise.”

The Olympus E-3 professional DSLR camera has surfaced in Korea at an Olympus press conference. The first ever DSLR to feature a rotating LCD screen complete with Live View mode, a working prototype of the Olympus E3 was being shown to the Korean press along with a transparent 12-60mm F2.8-4 lens (24-120mm equivalent in 35mm terms). Both sites listed below have extensive pictures of the new Olympus E-3 DSLR, which is said to be due for release in November.
