The RPS has announced the fifth in its series of highly successful teaching symposiums. This year’s event is called “Good Picture 2007 – The Imaging Chain” and will focus on on various aspects of the digital imaging process. The RPS Teaching Symposium takes place on Tuesday 18th December and cost is £54 full rate or £30 for retired, student or unemployed.

The Toshiba 32GB SDHC memory card is the world’s biggest capacity SD card. Sony have unveiled a 12.47 megapixel, APS-C sized sensor, seemingly in direct response to Canon’s announcement of the 10 megapixel EOS 40D DSLR camera earlier this week. The image quality it offers, when set to the highest (Super Fine) setting, is generally very good. Photographs captured under natural light turn out very well, and it is only under mixed lighting and when the flash is used that the auto white balance can have difficulty. The NV11 is, overall, a good camera that excels in certain areas, and offers an imaginative interface. It would, however, benefit from a less reflective monitor surface.”

“The one thing that Fujifilm does talk about a lot in its marketing materials for the S5 Pro is how much better the noise tendencies are. I have good news and bad news on that front. The good news is that, as I’ll report later, the noise levels in the S5 Pro are reasonably well controlled. The bad news is that it comes as a result of the RP Processor Pro imaging ASIC’s noise reduction routines. Noise reduction applied downstream from the sensor (in the imaging ASIC or in raw conversion software) always tends to take away detail as it does its job.”

It offers very good photo quality, snappy performance, tons of point-and-shoot features, and great battery life. Sure, it needs work in a few areas, but what camera doesn’t? The EX-Z1050 offers a lot for a little over $200, making it a great value, and a camera I can recommend.”
