CNET have the first online review of the 7 megapixel Casio EX-Z70.
“Quirks can make or break a relationship. He or she may be attractive, smart, funny and have plenty of good qualities, but unsightly habits such as tooth-clicking or nail-biting may be enough to push you over the edge. Technology is the same way; a camera may be attractive and fast, but those irritating flaws can be enough to drive you crazy. Casio’s 7-megapixel Exilim EX-Z70 is one such quirky camera.”

CameraTown have reviewed a couple of Crumpler camera bags, the Bundle and 2 Million Dollar Home (pictured) models.
“The “2 Million Dollar Home” as Crumpler calls it is the right size to fit most large point & shoot, ultra zoom, and compact digital SLR camera models. The case features a large front pocket for accessories and a smaller mesh-lined pocket inside the top flap. Both pockets are hidden from view when the cover of the case is down. This Crumpler camera bag looks like a scaled down version of their messenger bags. It is stylish and affordable but is it the right case for you? Read our review to find out.”

AKVIS Press Release
October, 2006 - AKVIS LLC announces the release of AKVIS Enhancer plug-in v.5.0 for Windows and Macintosh. The version introduces the long-awaited batch mode that allows you to improve a series of pictures in a row. Besides, the installation procedure for Macintosh was simplified. AKVIS Enhancer is an image enhancement software for revealing details on a picture. Enhancer allows detecting details from underexposed, overexposed and mid tone areas of a photo. The tool is useful in cases when a photo lacks detail. For example, when a picture has been taken with the background overexposed and consequently the foreground is hardly discernible, which is especially annoying when you take a picture of a person; or when a photo lacks dramatic effect due to vagueness of the scene.

CEA / Yahoo! Press Release
Arlington, Virginia 10/23/2006 - Seventy-seven percent of consumer electronics (CE) purchases were influenced by Internet research according to the joint Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®) and Yahoo! study Understanding How Consumers Use the Internet to Research and Shop for CE Products. The study, conducted by Hall and Partners, explored the path to purchase for five CE products: cell phones, computers, digital cameras, digital music players and televisions, and found that online research time directly correlated to product price. As the price of a product increased so did the amount of time a consumer spent researching that product. The least amount of time spent researching was on cell phones at nine hours and the most times spent researching was 15 hours on televisions. For those who purchased, the average amount of time spent researching online was 12 hours.

DigitalCameraInfo have published an interesting comparison of 5 digital cameras with image stablisation systems.
“We photographed a scene in low light to see how the cameras handled relatively long exposures. Because the cameras do not have straightforward manual controls, we ended up with a range of exposure times, from 1/4 of a second to a full second. Given that range, these results are not directly comparable. Still, they show that the cameras can yield usable images at very low speeds. Again, our sample images are shown at 100 percent: each pixel on the computer display corresponds to a single pixel in the image file.”

Photo-i have just started an interactive review of the new HP B9180, an 8 colour, A3+ inkjet printer that uses Vivera pigment inks for waterproof photos which resist fading for more than 200 years.
“In February 2006 HP announced a new printer the HP Photosmart Pro B9180 A3 printer. This printer is clearly aimed at the professional and creative photographer. The printer is built like a Sherman tank and is going to withstand heavy duty professional use. The B9180 uses HP’s newly formulated Vivera Pigment inks for outstanding colour quality. I have been using the B9180 for nearly a year and the prints I have been producing surpass all other printers that I have tested. The printer did have one or two quirks, but these have been rectified (so I am told- we will see over the next few days). For a change the Mac drivers were ready before the Windows drivers.”

DIWA member LetsGoDigital have published their review of the new 10 megapixel Canon Digital IXUS 900 Ti (also known as the Powershot SD900).
“The image quality of the Canon IXUS 900 Ti is excellent. The white balance performs very well, and will only require a little adjustment in the form of a manual setting when working with a surplus of artificial light, so that the colour cast can be kept to a minimum. The fast DIGIC III processor is a powerful part of the camera, and ensures that the increased resolution will not cause any delays, an impressive achievement! The 10 Megapixel images are processed rapidly, provided you are working with a fast SD card.”

Megapixel.net have reviewed the 7 megapixel, 10x optical zoom Olympus SP-510 UZ.
“In conclusion, the SP-510 UZ brings ergonomic improvements over the SP-500 through the addition of external controls that make it simpler to change settings, and which avoid having to navigate through the menu. It also offers an increase in resolution, adding an extra million pixels, but that comes at a cost, as the SP-510 UZ is noticeably more prone to noise than its predecessor was.”

DCResource have a dual review of the new Canon A640 and Canon A630, which have 10 and 8 megapixels respectively.
“Photo quality similar on both cameras—very good. The A630 and A640 took well-exposed photos with accurate colors, pleasing sharpness, and minimal purple fringing. Noise levels were low through ISO 200, and at ISO 400 something surprising happened: the 10 Megapixel A640 performed better than the 8 Megapixel A630. You should have no problem making midsize prints at that setting—and maybe larger. ISO 800 is best saved for situations where you have no other options. The one photo quality downside is a common one for the A-series cameras, and it’s redeye.”

DCResource have just reviewed the new 10 megapixel Samsung NV10 digital camera.
“The Samsung NV10 is a compact camera that has some hits and some misses. On the positive side, it’s a very well built and stylish compact camera, with a good feature set. However, its photo quality and battery life are disappointing, two things which are more important than how cool a camera looks in your hand. The NV10’s most notable feature also gets a 50/50 rating from me, and that’s its new user interface. While it is certainly clever and time-saving, it was also very frustrating at times, making me wish that it had a regular four-way controller like every other camera.”

PopPhoto have reviewed the new 10 megapixel Nikon D80 DSLR camera.
“Perhaps you’re thinking this is One Complicated Camera. Absolutely not. Pick it up, put it on Program, choose a resolution, and shoot. When you need advanced controls or after-shooting tweaks, they’re there, but they don’t intrude on the shooting experience. After testing this camera, we began to suspect that the people at Nikon have simply gone crazy. The D80 in many instances equals the performance of the $700-more-expensive D200. Sure, the D200 has a tougher body and tougher shutter, but that’s still quite a gap.”

CNET have a short review of the new Canon G7, which features a 10 megapixel, 1/1.8 inch sensor, DIGIC III image processor, Face Detection, 35-210mm lens and optical image stabilization system.
“Though the reasons for buying the PowerShot G7 have dwindled, they haven’t disappeared entirely. It’s an optimal choice as a second camera, when you can’t or won’t schlep a dSLR with you, if you’re not quite ready to take the leap from a point-and-shoot to a full-fledged interchangeable lens system, or if you need the flexibility of a movie-capture mode.”

CNET have published their review of the recently announced 10 megapixel Panasonic DMC-FZ50 camera.
“Panasonic’s DMC-FZ50 is one large camera, but if you can get past that, you can enjoy some of its nicer features. For example, it includes a rotating, flip-out LCD screen to make extreme high- and low-angle shooting easier, as well as a hotshoe so you can use Panasonic’s DMW-FL28 accessory flash should the camera’s built-in, pop-up flash not be powerful or versatile enough for you. Unfortunately, the LCD screen is only two inches diagonal, but flip-out LCDs tend to be smaller, so it’s on a par with the competition.”
