The Pentax K10D DSLR camera is announced today. The K10D offers 10.2 megapixels, shake-reduction, dust removal system, 22-bit colour, three new shooting modes, 2.5 inch LCD screen and 11 point auto-focusing. There is also a new D-BG2 Battery Grip for the K10D, and a new range of supersonic motor-driven lenses are currently being developed. Fujifilm USA have unveiled the FinePix S6000fd, a 6 megapixel digital camera with a 10.7x zoom lens equivalent to 28-300mm. The Fujifilm S6000fd will be available in September for $499.95. The FinePix S6500fd will be available from UK retailers in October 2006, price to be announced, and in Europe from mid-September for 499 €.

Yes, you read the headline correctly - this wooden camera from Olympus is one of the stranger products on display at Photokina 2006. Clearly based on the enduring Mju series of Olympus cameras, the Olympus Wood camera is a working prototype that apparently may or may not go into production (we certainly wouldn’t bet on that happening). Olympus didn’t comment on whether or not they would plant a tree for every one of these wooden cameras that they produced…

The Samsung GX-10 and 5 new lenses are announced this morning. The Samsung GX10 is a 10 megapixel digital SLR camera a 2.5 inch LCD screen, built-in Optical Picture Stabilization technology (CCD Shift), dust removal function, water-proof and anti-dust coating, one-touch RAW button and continuous shooting at 3 fps. The Samsung GX10 and lenses are expected to be available from October, with the price being announced at that time.

Fujifilm have announced the development of the FujiFilm S5 Pro digital SLR, slated for early 2007 introduction. Looking like it’s based on the Nikon D200 body, the FujiFilm S5 Pro features the same Super CCD SR double pixel sensor as the older S3 Pro.
