Canon EOS 5DePhotoZine have published their review of the 12.8 megapixel Canon EOS 5D digital SLR.

“The Canon EOS 5D is a very capable camera, which produces silky smooth images right up to ISO400 and beyond that, noise levels are still very well controlled thanks in part to the full frame sensor. Sensor size is also to blame for another trait, vignetting with wide angle lenses is a real problem if you like to shoot wide open.”

Casio EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z60Digital Trends have just reviewed the Casio EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z60 camera, which offers 6 megapixels, 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.5 inch LCD.

“Another feature Casio touts is the Exilim’s anti-shake DSP technology. Casio does a great job here helping people with shaky hands take great photos. Aside from users with shaky hands, other circumstances may warrant the use of this feature. Say you’re at a concert and need to zoom in to get a picture, the anti-shake feature will really come in handy and you will come out with a decent photo, as opposed to a blurry mess.”

Fujifilm FinePix F470 ZoomByteSector have just reviewed the new 6 megapixel Fujifilm FinePix F470 Zoom digital camera.

“For outdoors and brightly lit environments, the F470 performs very well and ranks amongst some of the better point and shoot cameras Bytesector has looked at. The colors are fairly bright and accurate despite the fact that the camera tends to favour blues and greens to warmer colors and flesh-tones.”

Casio EX-Z1000Digital-Lifestyles.info have a short review of the Casio EX-Z1000 compact digicam, which offers 10 megapixels, 2.8 inch LCD screen, IS0 3200 and an interesting new Zoom Continuous Shutter mode that allows you to compare a wide angle and a telephoto shot in the same display and to take both shots simultaneously.

“Ten megapixels lets you produce sharp prints at up to A2 poster in size or, more likely, crop in to tiny details and still end up with a printable image. But with great power often come great problems: huge file sizes, noisy images and irritating processing delays. Impressively, the Z1000 suffers from only the first of these (if you don’t think 4Mb per shot is huge, wait until you run out of memory cards halfway through a holiday).”

Kodak Easyshare Z650Imaging Resource have reviewed the new Kodak Easyshare Z650, which has a 6.1-megapixel sensor and 10x zoom lens.

“And that’s probably what I most liked about the Z650—I never got the feeling the camera was boxing me in to its way of shooting the scene. Take that touchy situation of shooting public works inside a museum. The rules are generally no flash and no tripod, enough to discourage anyone but particularly someone with just an Auto mode on a point-and-shoot. With the Z650, you could simply select the Museum Scene mode. Or, you could slip into Shutter Priority, set the shutter speed to 1/60 (or bravely try 1/30), kick the ISO up to 800, turn off the flash and get the shot.”

Nikon Coolpix L3ByteSector have reviewed the Nikon Coolpix L3, a 5 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom lens and 2 inch LCD.

“The L3 is a standard looking camera, but I found that it was well proportioned. With the shrinking size of cameras, it is difficult to find one that is comfortable for me, but I thought the curve of the grip and the front layout of the camera provided many stable ways to hold the camera. Usually, I have some difficulty in getting a steady grip and not covering something on the front of the camera with my large hands, but with the L3, this was not a concern. And by no means is it too bulky either, as I was told by someone with petite hands that the L3 was very comfortable.”

Kodak PROFESSIONAL 1400 Digital Photo PrinterTrustedReviews have reviewed the Kodak PROFESSIONAL 1400 printer that was first announced in late 2004.

“Despite the paper having to pass through the Professional 1400 four times during printing, results are quick and consistent. Each page we printed took just under the 90 seconds Kodak claims for a full-page print. It’s much faster than typical inkjets can manage, but doesn’t look quite as impressive if you’re printing less than a full page. No matter what area you’re printing, the print times stays at a steady 1 minute, 28 seconds.”

InfoTrends Press Release

(Weymouth, MA) June, 13 2006… According to consumer survey research conducted by InfoTrends, 34% of U.S. digital camera owners are repeat buyers, representing an increase of 10% over the previous year. In addition, 20% of digital camera owners surveyed were planning to purchase another digital camera within the next year. Today, digital camera owners who have more than one digital camera tend to be more technology-savvy. In many cases, they have replaced or supplemented their original digital camera, so their behaviors are more reflective of the early adopters. A significantly higher percentage of these consumers own CE devices like portable music players and DVD burners. As consumers continue to upgrade their existing cameras, purchase additional cameras, and become more familiar with the various features and functions, InfoTrends believes that the penetration of technologies complementing digital photography will rise as well.

Strobist have just started a virtual boot camp for anyone interested in improving their lighting skills.

“The main point of SBC is to nudge those photographers out there who have not made the transition to actually trying this lighting stuff out to make the jump. Secondarily, we will hopefully all get a chance to see what many different photogs - from all around the world - do with the exact same assignments. You’ll also be able to ask “how’d you do that?” questions to your fellow photographers. Using Flickr, we will effectively become a virtual classroom.”

Canon PowerShot S3 ISDIWA member Steves Digicams have reviewed the Canon PowerShot S3 IS, a 6 megapixel camera with an image stabilized 12x zoom lens, ISO 800 and a 2 inch LCD screen.

“I was pleased with the S3’s results outdoors. The power of the 12x zoom lens gets you close to the action, allowing well-composed shots even from the spectator areas at sports events. The accurate autofocus system and lens combined to produce consistently sharp results. Images were well-exposed and richly saturated right out of the camera, but you can override the degree of sharpness, contrast and saturation using the camera’s menu system. Image noise was very low at sensitivity settings of ISO 80 and 100. Noise becomes detectable in shadow areas at ISO 200, and noticeable at ISO 400.”

Canon Digital IXUS 800 ISDIWA member Steves Digicams have published their review of the SD700 IS (also known as the Canon Digital IXUS 800 IS), a 6 megapixel camera with an image stabilized 4x zoom lens (first time on an IXUS camera).

“Despite its small size, the SD700’s ergonomics are good. At about the size of a deck of playing cards, it can easily be tucked away in any pocket, yet still fits comfortably in your hands. The well positioned controls fall naturally underneath your fingertips, and we especially like the zoom controls being mounted around the shutter release. The 2.5-inch LCD takes up a large percentage of the back of the camera, but Canon was able to squeeze a small optical viewfinder in above it. I noticed it was a bit more reflective than we have seen on other Canon models, however it was still very useable outdoors in bright sunlight.”

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1CNET have reviewed the new 10x zoom, 5 megapixel, compact Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 digital camera.

“Images from the Lumix DMC-TZ1 showed accurate, natural colors, with plenty of saturation. Plus, exposures were generally accurate, though it had a tendency to clip detail from the brightest portions of our field test images. Unfortunately, we also saw moiré in the finer details of our test images, which were noticeably soft and suffered from JPEG artifacts and fringing. More troubling, though, was that like a lot of Panasonic cameras, the DMC-TZ1 had a tough time keeping noise in check.”

Olympus mju 720 SWTrustedReviews have just reviewed the Olympus mju 720 SW, a 7.1 megapixel, 3x zoom, 2.5 inch LCD, weatherproof digital camera.

“I hope nobody from Olympus is reading this, because I took the brand-new £230 camera that the company had entrusted to my care and deliberately dropped it several times from head height onto a variety of different surfaces, including carpet, lino and a hard wooden floor.
