Nikon Coolpix P1Pocket-Lint have published a review of the Nikon Coolpix P2 Wi-Fi digital camera.

“In terms of image quality, the one image quality downside is some intrusive noise in shadows, even at ISO 100 and with the noise reduction mode activated. Otherwise, the P2 provides a comprehensive package of metering (spot, centre-weighted and matrix) AF modes, burst shooting (up to 30fps) and an interval shooting mode. Slight underexposure seemed the norm but otherwise the image quality is exemplary, crisp, and colourful and with exposure compensation and D-Lighting as back-up, the images were superb.”

Canon EOS 5DDIWA member Steves Digicams have published their review of the 12.8 megapixel Canon EOS 5D digital SLR.

“The bottom line is always image quality, and the 5D does not disappoint with its combination of 12.8-megapixel resolution, full-frame image sensor and low image noise. The 5D is capable of producing images rivalling the quality of the professional 1DS Mark II. Most pro’s will opt to shoot in RAW mode, using software tools to adjust for the desired degree of sharpness, saturation and contrast. But the 5D also produces high-quality finished JPEG images courtesy of its Picture Styles. While image noise is noticeable in midtone and shadow areas at sensitivities over ISO 800, ISO 1600 and 3200 produce very usable images.”

Fujifilm FinePix S9500 ZoomPhotoxels have published their review of the Fujifilm FinePix S9500 Zoom, a new 9 megapixel digital camera with a 28-300mm lens with twist-barrel zoom control (also known as the S9000).

“The image quality on the Fujifilm S9000 is very good to excellent, though not approaching the exceptional low noise capability of the F10. Nevertheless, this disappointment aside [editor: and it’s a big disappointment for many fans who were expecting nothing less], the Fujifilm S9000 trounces its competitors. None of its competitors offer ISO 800 or 1600, and the S9000’s ISO 1600 is comparable to their ISO 400. Very impressive, so don’t lose sight of this accomplishment.”

Canon EOS 5DDPReview have published their review of the 12.8 megapixel Canon EOS 5D digital SLR.

“The EOS 5D is a fantastic photographic tool which is capable of producing really excellent results. The caveat is that it takes a little more care and understanding of your equipment (especially lenses). We found resolution to be absolutely excellent with crisp detailed results straight from the camera (JPEG) and even more detail available if you shoot RAW. Different ‘looks’ can be easily achieved via Picture Styles (almost like changing film) and the range of in-camera image parameters has been expanded. Noise levels are essentially identical to the EOS 20D as is dynamic range, this is neither a surprise or a disappointment, it simply means consistency and the maintaining of an expectation built by Canon in the performance of its CMOS sensor.”

Nikon Coolpix P1DigitalCameraInfo have published a review of the 8 megapixel Nikon Coolpix P1 Wi-Fi digital camera.

“Nikon started with a basic set of features – 8 megapixels, 3.5x optical zoom lens, 2.5-inch LCD screen – and crammed them in a compact body with a built-in wireless port. The consumer wireless market is quite new and the P1 is one of the first three models in this new segment. The P1 has stiff competition and answers with more megapixels and a bit more manual functionality. However, the Nikon Coolpix P1 also skimps in some very important areas. The 2.5-inch LCD screen has only 110,000 pixels, making the view not as smooth as the view from other models. Also, the wireless port is built-in but the setup itself isn’t wireless. It requires users to connect the camera with the USB cable to save the computer and printer profiles on the P1. Pictures and movies on the P1 can only be transferred to PictureProject software and PictBridge printers with the optional wireless printer adapter. Pictures cannot be emailed directly from the camera or showcased on online albums, so the P1 doesn’t realize the full potential of WiFi.”

Konica Minolta Dynax 5DPhotographic Magazine have reviewed the new entry-level Konica Minolta Dynax 5D digital SLR camera.

“Metering performance was excellent, and the 5D did a great job with bright, high-contrast subjects like white birds in direct sun. Dynamic range and color reproduction are excellent, but highest-quality JPEG images were a bit noisier at all ISO settings than with the 7D (I couldn’t test RAW image quality because the necessary software was not yet available when we received our test sample). All in all, though, image quality is very good. Besides ISO settings from 100 to 3200, the 5D offers an Auto ISO mode, in which the camera sets an appropriate ISO for the shooting conditions—very handy in rapidly changing lighting situations.”

Pentax *ist DLPhotographic Magazine have reviewed the new entry-level Pentax *ist DL digital SLR camera. The Pentax *ist DL is a 6.1 megapixel DSLR which features a 2.5 LCD screen and light 16 ounce body.

” Featuring a tiny body with a high-rigidity stainless steel chassis and metal lens mount, the DL felt better in my hands than the DS or original *ist D did. While I found the others difficult to hand hold steady with a long lens attached, the DL somehow seemed easier to manage. And I love the big LCD monitor with its larger menu type. The controls are easy to figure out and operate. I did manage to pop the SD card door open a few times while hiking with the DL and another camera around my neck, but otherwise encountered no ergonomic problems.”

HP Photosmart 8250Photographic Magazine have tested the HP Photosmart 8250 photo printer, which features six individual ink cartridges and can print photos in just 14 seconds.

“he Photosmart 8250 did an excellent job with everything I threw at it. Portraits displayed good skin tones and landscapes had rich vibrant colors. The blues in particular were richer than most other printers I’ve used. Black and white prints didn’t show the same beautiful neutral tones that are possible with the Photosmart 8750, but considering there is only one shade of black that’s not surprising. Printing in gray scale with the HP driver delivered acceptable results. “

“In addition to offering some of the benefits you get from a D-SLR, the Fuji FinePix S9000 has a 10.7X optical zoom lens—better than what’s included in most D-SLR kits. But the S9000 has some stiff competition in the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30, our current Editors’ Choice for superzooms. Although priced the same ($650 street), the S9000 can’t quite match the outstanding quality, performance, and ease of use of the FZ30.”

Canon IXUS i ZoomImaging Resource have just reviewed the new Canon IXUS i Zoom digital camera (also known as the SD30). The Canon IXUS i Zoom is a 5 megapixel model with a 2.4x optical zoom lens and 1.8 inch LCD screen.

“Smaller if not thinner than many subcompacts, it uses a dock for USB transfers, to charge its Li-ion battery and for A/V output. Available in black, red, gold, or violet body colors, the 5.0-megapixel SD30 relies on a 1.8-inch LCD instead of an optical viewfinder for composing shots. Recording modes include the extremely unusual (and frankly, rather cool) “My Color” modes that allow you to selectively replace any color in your photo with a different one, or to make the image black and white with the exception of a single color. Overall, the PowerShot SD30 is one of the more appealing subcompact digicams we’ve seen.”
