ProFotoSoftware Press Release

ProFotoSoftware, the UK based Digital Imaging Software House, today announced their strategy to eliminate the artificial gap created by proprietary (‘Raw’) Image Formats that are produced by many digital cameras.

This gap is the need to firstly ‘develop’ Raw Images into another format before performing the ‘traditional’ image adjustments such as sharpening, altering saturation and so forth. This has led to the creation of many Raw Development packages, of various costs and qualities, which photographers must use before they can access their images.

Said ProFotoSoftware Founder Andy Bell, “It is our intention to bridge the gap caused by Raw Image Formats by seamlessly integrating them into all our image editing products. Our software will no longer require separate treatment of Raw Images before they can be accessed and edited. “

Fujifilm FinePix Z1 ZoomDigitalCameraReview have published their review of the Fujifilm FinePix Z1 Zoom, a 5 megapixel compact digital camera with a large 2.5inch LCD screen and 3 optical zoom.

“Image quality is a decidedly mixed bag. As I’ve said in other reviews, if you simply desire to print 4x6 or 5x7 prints, the Z1 will do the job. However, in many shaded outdoor photos or indoor photos the images are noisy. In others, the photos appear as if a slight mosaic filter was applied to the image. Lines in images lack definition and patches of solid color appear mottled. This is true of many of the test photos I took.”

Pentax Optio SViTrustedReviews have reviewed the new 5 megapixel Pentax Optio SVi.

“Of course there’s not much point having lots of nice creative features if you don’t have the picture quality to back them up, but here the Optio SVi scores major points. In every circumstance it turned in nothing but superb top-quality pictures, both social snapshots and artistic photography. Colour rendition was perfect, as were exposure and focusing, all of which coped well with a wide variety of lighting conditions. “

FujiFilm FinePix S3 ProImaging Resource have just posted their review of the Fuji FinePix S3 Pro digital SLR.

“Now comes the S3 Pro, a camera that takes a somewhat different path, trading off image resolution to achieve dramatically greater dynamic range. Its body size and design will prompt many to compare it with lower-end (and much cheaper) “prosumer” d-SLRs, but that’s not really a fair comparison, given its amazing imaging capabilities. When it comes to preserving difficult highlights without disturbing the tonality or color rendition of the rest of the image, the Fujifilm S3 Pro is unquestionably without equal anywhere in the digital camera market.”

“In our PC Labs testing, simulated-daylight shots revealed just a little bit of noise and could have been a bit sharper. Still, they had very good color saturation and accurate color matching. There was some fringing in the image, but overall we found a nice exposure, with a good dynamic range that included a rich, deep black.”

Novoflex Classic Ballheadauspiciousdragon.net have just reviewed the Novoflex Classic ballhead and Q-base quick release clamp.

“Every ballhead that I’ve used prior to this one has used the same control to release the ballhead for movement and control the amount of friction that the cup exerts during movement. This means that inattention can cause the ball to be over loosened and can lead to the camera flopping forward. The blue band in the picture is a separate “set and forget” friction control. You can adjust the friction on the loose ballhead to the amount that suits you.”

Pentax OptioWPDIWA member LetsGoDigital have published their review of the new waterproof Pentax OptioWP digital camera.

“The five Megapixels of resolution are sufficient to enable the Pentax Optio WP delivering fine enlarged prints. The lens offers a 3x optical zoom ranging from 38mm to 114mm, actually a universal range. The fact that the Optio WP is waterproof makes the lens stay inside the camera, in stead of extending. If it did extend, water might enter through the seams. The construction of the lens is very special; it features eleven lens elements in nine groups. With great admiration we look at it and wonder how on earth Pentax did it… “
