DPReview have published their review of the new 12 megapixel Nikon D2X digital SLR.
“The D2X is a camera which grew on me the more I used it, its instant response and solid build instill a level of confidence unavailable in lesser cameras. You know that every time you press the shutter release the camera will respond instantly and you’ll get the shot. As a photographic tool it’s as close to perfection as I could imagine, there’s really very little else you could want from a camera.”

Canon Europe Press Release
Canon, a leader in photographic and imaging technology, today announces the launch of the EOS 20Da – a digital SLR optimised for astrophotography. Based on the popular EOS 20D camera and joining it as a companion model in Canon’s product line, the new EOS 20Da digital SLR specifically addresses the needs of astrophotography with features such as a live preview on the LCD monitor and a modified low-pass filter optimised for photographing the night sky in brilliant detail.
The low-pass filter positioned in front of the EOS 20Da’s 8.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor has been modified to yield sharper and higher contrast images of various astronomical phenomena such as diffuse reddish nebulae. The modification increases the transmission of light at the wavelength of 656nm, known as the Hydrogen Alpha line, or H? wavelength, by a factor of 2.5x compared to the standard EOS 20D digital SLR.

PCMagazine have posted their review of the 7.2 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P200 digital camera.
“The modernist shape of the Cyber-shot DSC-P200 ($399.95 direct) certainly sets it apart in the compact cameras category. With its one rounded side and minimal yet formally balanced front, it will definitely draw attention. And as with past P-series models, Sony hasn’t skimped on performance, either. But although the DSC-P200 performed similarly on our lab tests to the Canon PowerShot SD500 Digital Elph and is $100 cheaper, it doesn’t match the SD500 in subjective image quality.”

Ken Rockwell has just reviewed the new Casio EX-Z750 Exilim Zoom, which has a 7.2 megapixel CCD sensor, large 2.5-inch LCD screen and offers a battery life of 325 shots.
“The Casio EX-Z750 is my favorite compact camera as of June, 2005. I bought one personally and carry it everywhere in my pocket. It has instantaneous operation, easy navigation through simple menus and has all sorts of clever features and excellent ease- and speed-of-use lacking in Nikon and Canon compacts. It has 7 megapixels, a 3 x zoom and full manual controls if you need them. It’s super easy to use, and even gives usable images at ISO 400 unlike most other compacts. Image quality for static subjects at low ISO is the same as my Nikon D70 DSLR and quite unlike what you’d expect from a girlie-sized camera, as I’ll show later in this review.”

DIWA member Steves Digicams have published their review of the new 12 megapixel Nikon D2X digital SLR.
“While its exposure and auto focus system complemented each other nicely, producing consistently sharp, well-exposed images, image noise was present in shadow areas at ISO sensitivities as low as 200, and growing to a quite noticeable level at ISO 800. The D2X includes a High ISO Noise Reduction feature that can be activated in the camera’s menu system; this in-camera noise processing does diminish the amount of noise, but at the expense of image detail. At ISO settings of HI-1 (ISO 1600) and HI-2 (ISO 3200), shadow noise is very high even with the use of High ISO Noise Reduction.”

Imaging Resource have reviewed the 5 megapixel Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LZ2, which features a 6x optical zoom lens and an Optical Image Stabilizer to combat camera shake.
“With the minimalist styling that’s been a hallmark of the company’s Lumix lineup, the Panasonic DMC-LZ2 looks clean and functional, with a 6x Lumix DC Vario optical zoom lens that dominates the front panel. Measuring 4.0 x 2.5 x 1.3 inches (101 x 64 x 33 millimeters), the DMC-LZ2 weighs approximately 7.8 ounces (222 grams) with the battery and storage card installed. The DMC-LZ2’s all-plastic, matte-silver body helps keep the camera’s weight down, but does tend to give the initial reaction that it feels somewhat cheap. There’s very little creak or flex to any of the body panels, but this was the first impression from several people who had occasion to handle the camera during the review process. While it definitely won’t fit into your shirt pocket, an accompanying wrist strap offers a sense of security when carrying the camera - but I’d also recommend picking up at least a small camera bag to protect the lens.”
