Toshiba have released its Canvio AeroMobile wireless SSD. Combining the convenience and capacity of portable storage with the durability and performance of solid state drives, this pocket-sized SSD has integrated wireless functionality and a high-speed USB 3.0 port, allowing you to transfer your data seamlessly between up to eight devices at a time. Available in light gold, the Canvio AeroMobile has a storage capacity of 128GB, and comes with expanded memory via the built-in SD card slot - doubling as a backup solution for your holiday snaps, family videos and personal data. The Canvio AeroMobile wireless SSD offers up to 8 hours of continuous play battery life, and will retail at £119.00.

At photokina 2014, Cosyspeed will present two new versions of its Camslinger 160 bag, which will be available from November for €99.99 / $119.00 each. Designed for mirrorless system cameras, the Camslinger bag adapts flexibly to the size of each individual camera setup. The new versions include the Camslinger 160 Paris Gray (pictured) and the all-black Camslinger 160 Street Editon, both of which will be on display at the Cosyspeed booth at  photokina (hall 4.1, stand C026).

Canon will be releasing free firmware1 upgrades for both the Cinema EOS C500 4K and C300 Digital Cinema Cameras, as well as Cinema RAW Development 1.3, an updated version of Canon’s Cinema RAW Development software, in November. Offering compliance with the ITU-R BT.2020 (Rec. 2020) colour space employed in the 4K TV broadcasting tests carried out earlier this year in Japan, the firmware upgrade for the EOS C500 and EOS C500 PL camera models facilitates the capture of high-resolution video supporting this next-generation broadcast standard. The upgraded Cinema RAW Development software features the addition of 3D-LUT (Look-Up Table) for converting from Cinema Gamut/DCI-P3+ to the ITU-R BT.709 (Rec. 709) and DCI-P3 colour standards, enabling efficient video editing while maintaining low-chroma colour gradation. Additionally, support for EDLs (edit decision lists) enables only necessary time code-designated segments to be converted to the DPX and ProRes formats suitable for editing, effectively doing away with the need to process unnecessary files.

The Society of International Travel and Tourism Photographers (SITTP) have announced the winners of the “On the Road” Photography Competition. The overall winner is Jonathan Millard from Bristol, with his image, "Eurotunnel" (reprinted above). "My photo was taken en route to a skiing holiday this year to the French Alps with friends and our 10 month old daughter," Jonathan says. "We decided to drive from Bristol, which meant my first ride on the Eurotunnel. Luckily there was quite a bit of room behind the last car in our carriage, and so I thought putting the camera on the ground with a fairly wide angle would make for an interesting perspective. It was one of many holiday photos!" The runners-up are Jim Shepka from New Hampshire, USA and Chris Upton from Nottinghamshire, England.

Microsoft has announced the Nokia Lumia 830 smartphone, which features a 10-megapixel camera module with an optical image stabiliser. The Windows Phone 8.1-driven Nokia Lumia 830 has a Zeiss-branded f/2.2 lens and a 1/3.4"-type CMOS imager, and is capable of recording 4K movies and 10-megapixel photographs in DNG format. Other highlights include wireless charging, a 2200mAh battery and a 5-inch 720p display. The Lumia 830 will be available later this month, for about €330.

Lexar today announced the new 128GB Lexar High-Performance microSDXC UHS-I card with read transfer speeds up to 633x (95MB per second). “Whether it’s on a sports camera, aerial camera, tablet or smartphone, more video is being captured than ever before,” said Adam Kaufman, director of card product marketing, Lexar.  “With the new Lexar 128GB  microSDXC UHS-I card, users can continue to capture and store high-quality content, without having to worry about changing cards or running out of space.” The 128GB Lexar High-Performance microSDXC UHS-I card comes with a USB 3.0 reader and will be available for purchase in October 2014 with an MSRP of £87.99.

The Lexar JumpDrive M20 Mobile is a new flash drive featuring both micro-USB and USB 3.0 connectors. Offering read speeds of up to 120MB/s, the drive sports a thumb slide design to retract both connectors and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 devices. “Smartphones and tablets have made it easier for consumers to access their music, videos, and other files anytime, anywhere. Lexar have introduced the Lexar Professional Workflow UR1, a new a three-slot microSDHC/microSDXC UHS-I USB 3.0 memory card reader. “The video files that sports camcorders and aerial cameras capture are typically extremely large, and it can take a significant amount of time for users to offload content once shooting is complete,” said Adam Kaufman, director of card product marketing, Lexar. “This new three-slot reader cuts down the waiting time, letting users automate the process of transferring files through concurrent downloads and ultimately view, edit, and share their content much faster.” The new Lexar Professional Workflow UR1 reader has an MSRP of £29.99 and will be available in October.

The SLR Magic 10mm T2.1 HyperPrime CINE is an ultra wide angle lens aimed at videographers using Micro FourThirds cameras. Wacom today announced a smart stylus with new ‘thin tip’ technology that makes navigating, writing, sketching and sharing on an iPad feel effortless.
