The Sony A6000 compact system camera features the world’s fastest autofocus amongst interchangeable lens cameras. The A6000's Fast Hybrid AF system produces an autofocus performance of just 0.06 sec with high precision accuracy and an extremely wide autofocus coverage area with 179 focal points. The Sony A6000 also features a 24.3 megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, BIONZ X processor, built-in flash, OLED Tru-Finder, two control dials, NFC and Wi-Fi and downloadable PlayMemories Camera Apps.

Available in black or silver, the Sony A6000 will be available in mid-April priced at £550 body only, £670 with the 16-50mm kit lens, £800 in a double telephoto lens kit, and £1400 with the 16-70mm Carl Zeiss lens.

The Sony Cyber-shot HX400V is a premium super-zoom bridge camera with a 50x zoom lens. The Sony HX400V also offers a 20.4 megapixel Exmor RTM CMOS sensor, BIONZ X processor, DSLR-style handling, electronic viewfinder and manual controls, Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity and built-in GPS. The Sony Cyber-shot HX400V will be avilable in March for £420.

The Sony Cyber-shot H400 is an affordable new super-zoom camera with a 63x optical zoom lens, the highest ever in a compact digital camera. The Sony H400 also features a 20.1 megapixel CCD sensor, DSLR-style body, electronic viewfinder, Intelligent Auto, dedicated movie button and high-capacity lithium-ion battery.

The Sony Cyber-shot H400 will be available in April priced at £250.

The Sony Cyber-shot HX60V/HX60 is a premium travel-zoom camera with 20.4 megapixels, 30x optical zoom, Bionz X processor, Wi-Fi/NFC connectivity and GPS (HX60V only). The Sony HX60 V costs £340 and the HX60 £330, both available in March.

The Sony Cyber-shot WX350 is the world’s smallest and lightest compact camera with a powerful 20x optical zoom. The Sony WX350 offers 18.2 megapixels, Wi-Fi/NFC and 470-shot battery life and will be available in March for £260.

The Sony Cyber-shot WX220 offers a 18.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, BIONZ X processor and 10x optical zoom G Lens, and is available in March for £180..

The easy-to-use Sony Cyber-shot W800 has a 20.1MP CCD sensor and 5x optical zoom lens with Advanced Flash and Party Modes, available in March for £80.

ADVA Soft today released Handy Photo 2.0, an update to its all-in-one photo editing app for iOS and Android devices. Featuring a completely redesigned user interface, Handy Photo 2.0 offers an array of editing tools, including new selective editing features for colour and tone, advanced retouching tools, more than 20 photo filters that can be easily adjusted as needed, and a variety of high-resolution textures and frames. HandyPhoto 2.0 is available now on iTunes.

Cinemartin has released version 3.X of its Cinec video converter / encoder for Windows. Adding support for Cineform, Sony XAVC, XAVC-S and RED files (.r3d) as well as 4K Ultra HD videos created with Snapdragon 800 powered mobile devices; Cinec 3.X comes with a number of new features such sd Motion Picture Adjustments, Dual Preview Monitor and the ability to create transparent videos with the new Quicktime Animation preset. The software is available in Standard, Pro and Gold versions, priced at €99, €199 and €799 respectively.

SLR Magic has launched its Anamorphot 1.33x 50 anamorphic adapter for indie filmmakers. Developed with the help of EOSHD, the Anamorphot 1.33x 50 (£749 / €899 is designed to improve image quality in widescreen formats, while creating special horizontal flare effects, commonly referred to as anamorphic streaks when pointed toward a light source. In addition to the Anamorphot 1.33x 50, SLR Magic has also launched a 77mm Achromatic Dioptre Set (£249 / €299), designed for use with the anamorphic adapter. Both products will be available late March 2014.

ProAm USA has launched two new camera stabilisers for DSLR, compact and video cameras. The Autopilot Lite has been designed to stabilise cameras up to five pounds, with a smooth socket gimbal that absorbs unwanted motion creating fluid, dynamic shots. The larger Autopilot has a maximum load capacity of eight pounds and features a 3-axis bearing gimbal. ProAm USA’s Autopilot Lite and Autopilot Stabilizers are available now for $89.99 and $189.99, respectively.

Thule has just announced its newest photo bag offering, the Thule Covert Line. Some key features that make the Covert Line unique are Thule’s SafeZone removable camera pod system with dual density padded bottom, origami-inspired divider system that folds around the smallest to largest pieces of gear for custom fit and protection and durable and water resistant, two-tone Oxford material. The Thule Covert Line includes a rolltop backpack, a messenger bag, a two-in-one satchet and a sling bag. Availability is slated for August 2014.

Semiconductor experts Chipworks have confirmed that the image sensor inside the Olympus OM-D EM1 is made by Panasonic. Back in 2012, President Hiroyuki Sasa revealed that the OM-D E-M5 had a Sony imager, causing quite a stir among Micro Four Thirds fans. A few months later Olympus and Sony entered into a business alliance agreement and a capital alliance agreement, prompting everyone to think that all future Olympus CSCs would come equipped with Sony sensors. Apparently, this is not the case with the flagship Olympus E-M1, which - like many previous generations of Olympus DSLRs and CSCs - has a Panasonic imager.

Retailing at $2,995 - $1,000 less than originally suggested -, the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K features an EF lens mount and Super35 sized sensor with a global shutter. Other highlights include Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) and CinemaDNG raw file recording, timecoding, a 5" LCD touchscreen, a built-in SSD recorder, 6G-SDI output, a Thunderbolt port, 1/4” jack mic/line inputs plus 12V to 30V DC input, a 3.5mm headphone socket and LANC remote control. “The support from the creative community for the Blackmagic Cinema Camera and Production Camera 4K has been amazing,” said Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design. “The Blackmagic Production Camera 4K is a perfect companion for ATEM Production 4K switchers and we hope the new low price will help more customers to expand their Ultra HD live production set ups with even more camera angles!”

Dutch e-tailer CameraNu has started taking pre-orders for the new Panasonic Lumix GH4 compact system camera. The company quotes a price of €1,499 for the body only, including 21% VAT. Panasonic itself has not yet announced the MSRP of the camera.
