Leica has announced its collaboration with Gagosian Gallery on the new-limited edition Leica X2 Gagosian Edition. Established in 1980 by Larry Gagosian in Los Angeles, Gagosian Gallery’s international exhibition and publishing programs parallel Leica’s own global legacy and values of artistic integrity and expressive freedom, the company says. Handmade at Leica’s headquarters in Germany, the compact camera features an APS-C-format professional CMOS image sensor with over 16.5 megapixels, and an Elmarit 24 mm f/2.8 ASPH lens. “The Leica X2 Gagosian Edition continues Leica’s rich heritage in all technical aspects and function, married with an artistic flair reflective of Gagosian’s presence in the world of art,” said Roland Wolff, Vice President of Marketing for Leica Camera USA. “Leica’s heritage of artistic collaborations, partnerships and projects allows us to move beyond the photographic image, and turn the tool itself into a piece of art.” The Leica X2 Gagosian Edition camera, produced in a limited run of one hundred units, is available for purchase exclusively at the Gagosian Shop and on the Shop’s website.

Ikelite has launched two distinct underwater housings for Canon's latest offering in the G series. The Ikelite TTL Housing for the Canon Powershot G16 (£549.99) features a large, simple dial directly above the camera's LCD monitor that acts as a remote control for Ikelite DS-series strobes. An aluminium tray with left-hand rubberised grip is included with the Ikelite TTL housing for the Canon G16, providing balance and comfortable hold. The TTL housing will be available in December. The Ikelite Fibre Optic Housing (£449.99) is a more compact offering geared toward owners of optical strobes. This housing is just as rugged as the TTL version, but shrunk way down with comfortable thumb grips replacing the tray and handle assembly. The Fibre Optic housing will be available later this month.

Joby has revealed its latest product, the Pro Sling Strap. With its patent-pending SpeedCinch pulley system, the Pro Sling Strap length dynamically adjusts, letting photographers quickly secure their DSLR camera in one moment and shoot in the next. SpeedCinch has two modes: a fast-cinch mode for instant deployment and a locked mode where photographers can run, hike or bike without putting their DSLR in harm's way. Sigma has issued a product advisory stating that the current firmware of its Nikon fitting interchangeable lenses may not work properly with the Nikon D5300 digital SLR camera. More precisely, the Optical Stabilisation (OS) and Live View Auto Focus functions do not work properly when it is used with the Nikon D5300. For those customers who own Sigma lenses in Nikon mount, Sigma is going to provide a free firmware update service.

ExpoImaging has introduced the ExpoDisc 2.0 Professional White Balance Filter for digital cameras. The original ExpoDisc Professional White Balance Filter was available in separate Neutral and Portrait (warming) versions. ExpoDisc 2.0 combines these versions into a single tool. ExpoDisc 2.0 includes two levels of custom warming gels which can be inserted into recesses on the face of the ExpoDisc, enabling photographers to add varying degrees of warmth for pleasing skin tones. The ExpoDisc 2.0 will initially be available in a 77mm filter size with more sizes to follow. As with the original ExpoDisc, a larger ExpoDisc 2.0 can be used with smaller filter size lenses by simply holding the ExpoDisc 2.0 over the lens during the white balance setting procedure. The ExpoDisc 2.0 77mm White Balance Filter retails for $49.95.
