The Sinar rePro RC is a unique camera designed specifically for high-end digital reprography. Conveniently remote controlled (hence the RC designation), the Sinar rePro RC has a high-quality stepper motor with two speed levels which correspond to a coarse and a fine focus adjustment. The camera allows for a lateral shift of the image plane, which eliminates reflections. An auxiliary device called the Sinar Parallel enables the camera to be aligned perfectly with the subject, which is a prerequisite for correctly photographing flat art. "The battery powered Sinar Parallel is placed on the capturing table and its laser beam reflects from a mirror on the camera," the company says. "Precise alignment of the camera is achieved when the laser beam exactly hits the middle of the crosshairs of Sinar Parallel." Pricing and availability to be confirmed.

The Phottix Mitros+ is a groundbreaking new product - a third-party TTL flash with built-in radio triggering and power control functions. Currently available in a Canon ETTL compliant version, Phottix Mitros+ flashes can be remotely controlled and fired with a hotshoe-mounted Mitros+ unit or one of many compatible Phottix flash triggers. Unlike optical or infrared flash syncing solutions, radio triggering does not require direct line of sight and tends to work well indoors and out, at night and in broad daylight, over relatively long distances. The Mitros+ offers all of these triggering modes plus a 3.5mm sync port. As to basic flash functionality, the Phottix Mitros+ has a guide number of 58 (in metres), high-speed and second-curtain synchronisation modes, a zoomable tilt-swivel flash head with 24-105mm coverage (14mm with a wide-angle diffuser), an AF assist light and a quick flash mode. Three sets of flash and function information can be saved in the Mitros+’s memory and be quickly recalled when needed. The Mitros+ TTL Transceiver Flash for Canon will start to ship during October 2013. The price has not been announced yet but we expect the Mitros+ to be more affordable than its closest competitor, Canon's own Speedlite 600EX-RT. The Nikon version is expected to be released by the end of 2013.

David Noton has announced a photography competition for f11 members. The judges will be looking for f11 Members’ pictures that display the most imaginative and perceptive photographic vision, and the winner will receive a day of one-to-one tuition with David, arranged at a mutually convenient time and location. All finalists will have their images featured in a special Your Vision Competition Winners f11 Member’s Gallery in the February 2014 issue of David's Chasing the Light eZine. The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) has revealed the recipients of its annual awards at a ceremony held this evening at the Royal Society, London. Also announced were the recipients of The Society’s educational bursaries, given to promising photographers starting their careers and the Combined Royal Colleges Medal, awarded for an outstanding contribution to the advancement of medical photography or the wider field of medical imaging. The Fujifilm X-A1 is an entry-level compact system camera with a 16-megapixel APS-C imager. Phase One today released Capture One 7.1.4, a software update that includes support for new cameras and new lens profiles. This edition adds support for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1R and DSC-RX100 II, Fujifilm X-M1, Olympus E-P5 (pictured) and Ricoh GR, plus tethered shooting support for the Nikon D7100 and Nikon D5200 digital SLR cameras. Capture One 7.1.4 is a free update for all existing customers of Capture One 7.

The management of Ilford Imaging Switzerland GmbH announced that it has identified a path forward for the company that ran into financial difficulties at the end of June. The Management Team, namely Paul Willems, Chief Executive Officer and Jean-Marc Metrailler, Chief Financial Officer, have acquired the Ilford Imaging and Ilford Property companies. A significant part of the land owned by Ilford Property is being sold and the proceeds will be invested into the ILFORD Imaging business. This investment will provide the Management with the necessary funding to execute the strategic business plan. In addition JetGraph, a distribution partner in the Japanese and Chinese markets, will enter into the share capital of the company in partnership with the Management Team.

Do note that Ilford Imaging, which develops and manufactures consumables for inkjet printing and other coated products, is not to be confused with Ilford Photo, a UK-based company that produces black-and-white photographic film, papers and chemicals.
