Nikon is reminding interested photographers that the 2012-2013 Nikon Photo Contest will open for entries tomorrow, 1st December. Held since 1969, the Nikon Photo Contest (NPC), formally known as the Nikon Photo Contest International (NPCI), was created with the goal of “contributing to the development of photographic culture by providing a venue of communication among photographers from around the world, be they professionals or amateurs.” For this year’s contest, Nikon is seeking entries in four categories including single photo, composite photo, video and Motion Snapshot. The entry period begins on 1 December 2012 and runs until 28 February 2013. To submit your work, visit the Nikon Photo Contest 2012-2013 website and complete the entry form.

On a limited budget, and with just a backpack and a digital camera, Carter has visited more than one-third of all the cities and villages in China, encountering 56 different ethnic minorities, each with their own distinct languages, customs and lifestyles, learning everything he can about these people, their society, and their way of life. Estimated availability for the Memoto camera is early 2013. The unit will be offered in Graphite grey, Arctic white and Memoto orange colors for $279. For the last two days on Kickstarter, Memoto will be offering the camera at the discounted price of $249.

Canon UK has announced that the Canon EOS 6D full-frame digital SLR camera will be available from this weekend at a range of retailers across the country. Priced at £1799.99 for the body only (£1,959.99 with the EF 40mm STM and £2,519.99 with the EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens), the Canon EOS 6D is the lightest and most affordable full-frame Canon DSLR to date; featuring a 11-point AF system, 20.2-megapixel sensor, integrated Wi-Fi and GPS.
