Serif has launched PhotoPlus X6, the latest version of its award-winning photo editor for Windows. The book “Lensbaby: Bending Your Perspective”, 2nd Edition, by Lensbaby expert Corey Hilz, is now available. Published by Focal Press, this edition is a follow-up to the one published in 2010, and covers new additions to the Lensbaby product family—the Composer Pro, Sweet 35 and Edge 80 Optics, Scout and Macro Converters. The book also includes an entire chapter devoted to video by guest author Clint Milby, who has over 15 years in the film and television industry. The book retails for $30.

Nikon is reminding interested photographers that the 2012-2013 Nikon Photo Contest will open for entries tomorrow, 1st December. Held since 1969, the Nikon Photo Contest (NPC), formally known as the Nikon Photo Contest International (NPCI), was created with the goal of “contributing to the development of photographic culture by providing a venue of communication among photographers from around the world, be they professionals or amateurs.” For this year’s contest, Nikon is seeking entries in four categories including single photo, composite photo, video and Motion Snapshot. The entry period begins on 1 December 2012 and runs until 28 February 2013. To submit your work, visit the Nikon Photo Contest 2012-2013 website and complete the entry form.

After reaching its Kickstarter goal of $50,000 in just 5 hours, Memoto continued to rally support for its wearable micro-camera that captures every moment of your life in “photo keyframes,” ultimately surpassing two stretch goals and reaching a half million dollars in funding.  Capturing a 5-megapixel photo every 30 seconds, the Memoto camera is about the size of a large postage stamp and features geotagging, a built-in rechargeable battery with a LED indicator, and a micro-USB port for charging and downloading pictures to a computer. “Of course, you always dream that your product will have an impact like this, but we were blown away that we received so much support from the community in such a short time frame,” said Martin Källström, CEO of Memoto. “This device represents a turning point in how we remember and share special moments in our lives. Estimated availability for the Memoto camera is early 2013. The unit will be offered in Graphite grey, Arctic white and Memoto orange colors for $279. For the last two days on Kickstarter, Memoto will be offering the camera at the discounted price of $249.

Canon UK has announced that the Canon EOS 6D full-frame digital SLR camera will be available from this weekend at a range of retailers across the country. Priced at £1799.99 for the body only (£1,959.99 with the EF 40mm STM and £2,519.99 with the EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens), the Canon EOS 6D is the lightest and most affordable full-frame Canon DSLR to date; featuring a 11-point AF system, 20.2-megapixel sensor, integrated Wi-Fi and GPS.

Adobe has released Adobe Photoshop Touch 1.4, which brings optimisation for 7-inch tablet displays including the iPad Mini and Google Nexus 7. Other new features include support for three pressure-sensitive styli for iPad, new ways to share completed projects to Facebook and Twitter, additional effects like Lens Flare and Stamp Pattern, smoother brush strokes and a new colour selection workflow. Adobe Photoshop Touch 1.4 is immediately available as a free download for existing Photoshop Touch users in the iTunes App Store and Google Play. For new users the app costs £6.99.

PicStop has launched a new photography competition. The theme of the contest is “Animals” and each entrant may submit up to three photos, complete with titles and descriptions. Images must be in JPEG format and must not exceed 300 kilobytes in size. The deadline for entries is 23rd March.
