Unified Color has announced that its Photoshop filter plug-in, 32 Float v2, now fully supports the most recently-released version of Adobe Photoshop. “Ideal for HDR photographers looking to unlock the true potential of 32-bit true-color editing functionality, 32 Float v2 enables edits directly to the 32-bit image producing much more natural-looking tone mapped results due to Unified Color Technologies’ Beyond RGBTM color technology platform,” the company says. The Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) exhibition is now on display at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) in London. Free to view and billed as the perfect place to get inspiration for anyone thinking about entering the 2012 awards, the exhibition is open 9.30am-5pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday until 19th August, and features the winning images from the 2011 TPOTY awards as well as historic images from the RGS archive and some special showcases. Cities at Dawn have announced the last two dates for their London at Dawn workshop, as well as a new course called London by Night. The last London at Dawn workshops of the year will take place on 18-19th August and 1st & 8th September, with the cost being £185 per person. “London by Night” is a brand new five-week course comprising a brief introductory session as well as four on-location shooting sessions and a review and group discussion, all for £500. The new Samsung Series 9 SB970, Samsung’s first premium monitor designed with photographers and other imaging professionals in mind, has just been launched to the US market. Six politicians have been named as the ‘Judges Choices’ winners of the Jessops All-Party Parliamentary Photographic Competition. This year over 400 entries were submitted, displaying a diverse range of imagery taken from both the politicians’ personal and professional lives. The winning photographers from the House of Commons are: Andrew Miller MP, Caroline Flint MP, Nick Raynsford MP, Austin Mitchell MP and Tim Loughton MP. Lord Crathorne is the sole winner from the House of Lords. The six winning photographs together with a further 100 images will be available for public viewing from today to 5th July at the Jessops All-Party Parliamentary Photographic Exhibition in The Upper Waiting Hall of the House of Commons. The Exhibition will then move to the Royal Robing Room at the House of Lords from 6th July for a further two weeks.

Offering actual sustained read/write transfer speeds of 168MB/s, XQD surpasses the 167 MB/s maximum interface speed limit of Compact Flash. On the Nikon D4 DSLR, the XQD S Series captures a non-stop burst of 108 RAW frames at 10fps, enough to record the men’s 100m final from start to finish in one burst. The AA battery powered, 16-megapixel Samsung WB100 features a 22.3-579.8mm equivalent lens, dual image stabilisation, 3D photo capture, a Live Panorama Mode and 720p HD video recording capabilities. Weighing in at 403 grams without the batteries, the Samsung WB100 is available in black or red. The UK price has not been revealed yet but the recently announced German SRP (€219) should serve as a good indication of what to expect.

The National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, has launched the Share the Experience photo contest. Now in its 12th year, the competition provides an opportunity for amateur photographers to submit pictures taken at any US federal lands site for the chance of having their image selected for use on the America the Beautiful Federal Recreation Lands Pass. Entries will be accepted through 31 December 2012. As always we recommend that you read the rules before entering your work.
