Fujifilm has announced the final details of the highly anticipated FinePix X100 camera. The X100 is a high-grade digital compact camera featuring an APS-C CMOS sensor (12.3 megapixel), a Fujinon 23mm fixed focal length F2 lens and a newly developed Hybrid Viewfinder. The Fujifilm X100 will be available in March for £999 / $1299.

Sony is disclosing the basic specifications of its “E-mount” for interchangeable single lens cameras for free. Starting April 1st, 2011, 3rd party manufacturers will be able to develop lenses and mount adaptors for the E-mount, currently used in Sony’s NEX range. Carl Zeiss, Cosina, Sigma and Tamron have already expressed their interest.

The Sigma DP2x is a new compact camera with a 14 megapixel FOVEON X3 APS-C sensor. This updated version of the DP2 features a new AF algorithm which provides high speed auto focus and incorporates the AFE (Analog Front End), which converts full color data into a digital signal, enables the DP2x to reproduce high definition and richly colored images. The price and availability of the Sigma DP2x have not yet been announced.

Sigma has announced a new and improved version of its widest rectilinear zoom lens for full-frame digital SLR cameras. The optical formula now incorporates one SLD and four FLD glass elements to minimise colour aberration and provide “excellent image quality throughout the zoom range”.Three glass mold elements and one hybrid aspherical lens give advanced performance in a compact and lightweight construction and the Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting., the company says. In addition, this lens features Sigma’s splashproof design for use in harsh conditions. Pricing is to be announced.

The Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM is an optically stabilised true macro lens with a reproduction ratio of 1:1. Featuring a Super Multi-layer Coating to reduce flare and ghosting, a HyperSonic Motor (HSM) for quiet auto focus and Sigma’s own Optical Stabiliser to combat motion blur resulting from shaky hands, the new lens is the successor to the Sigma Macro 105mm F2.8 EX DG, which was launched in June 2004. The new lens also boasts nine rounded diaphragm blades for pleasing bokeh and a splashproof construction for problem-free outdoor use. Pricing and availability to be announced.

The Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC APO OS HSM is a new, stabilised version of the company’s large aperture telephoto zoom lens designed for digital SLR cameras with APS-C size sensors. The company claims that its proprietary Optical Stabiliser system enables hand held tele-photography by allowing the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than would otherwise be possible. The lens also features a new optical formula comprising 21 elements in 15 groups, including 6 special low-dispersion elements (the previous version had 18 elements in 14 groups, including 4 SLD elements). The new version has a 77mm filter thread and a maximum magnification of 1:6.3, whereas the older variant took 67mm filters and had a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:5.3. The new lens inherits the HyperSonic Motor and nine-bladed diaphragm of its predecessor. Availability and pricing to be announced.

The Olympus SZ-10 is a new compact camera with an 18x zoom in a super slim body. The SZ10 has a 18x wide optical zoom lens (28-504mm), 14 megapixels, 3D photo shooting, 720p HD Movies, and a 3 inch LCD with 460k dots. The Olympus SZ-10 will be available in black or silver for £199.99 from February 2011.

The Olympus VR-330 and VR-320 are new 14 megapixel compact cameras with 12.5x zoom lenses. Priced at £159.99 and £139.99 respectively, the VR330 and VR320 both offer a 3 inch LCD screen, 720p HD Movies and Dual Image Stabilisation. The VR-330 additionally features a high-resolution screen, 3D photo shooting and a HDMI port. The Olympus VR-330 and VR-320 are available from February in silver, black, red and blue.

The Olympus VG-110 is a new 12 megapixel entry-level digital compact camera. The VG110 has a 4x wide optical zoom lens (27-108mm), 2.7 inch LCD screen, and a range of Magic Filters. In the UK, the Olympus VG-110 will be available exclusively at Boots from mid-February 2011 for £79.99.

TiltShift Video 2.0 is an update to Fidel Lainez’s innovative iPhone app, which now boasts a streamlined user interface for the iPad. The program allows the users to process their videos in a way that gives them a miniature look, simulating an effect achievable with an interchangeable-lens video camera and a selective-focus lens. The app also lets the user adjust several settings, including playback speed, image saturation, contrast, brightness, vignetting, start and end titles, fades and soundtrack. Version 2.0 adds iPad support, a redesigned interface for the iPhone and iPod Touch, a number of new image adjustment options, important improvements to to the rendering engine and better organisation in the “Select Video” interface. The app retails at $1.99.

Photo Info Viewer is a new app for the Apple iPad that allows users to display all the metadata stored in their photos. The software lets the user switch between three display modes: Photo View, Photo Info (showing EXIF info like date, time and camera settings) and Photo Map (when location data is available). Photo Info Viewer is available now through the App Store for $0.99.

Tenba has just announced its new Vector Collection of consumer/prosumer camera bags. The smc PENTAX D FA 645 25mm F4 AL [IF] SDM AW is the second lens for the Pentax 645D Medium Format digital camera. Priced at $4999.95 and available in April 2011, the Pentax 25mm lens offers a focal length of approximately 19.5mm in the 35mm format. The Pentax 645D 25mm lens will be available in April 2011 for £3799.99.

The Pentax K-5 DSLR is being released in a silver limited edition version. This limited version (only 50 units are available in the UK) has had a complete face lift and features a new finish, thumb wheels, buttons and packaging. In addition, the back LCD and top screen of the Silver K-5 have been reinforced to provide additional durability. The camera also benefits from a redesigned handle, making it more comfortable to use. Three existing pancake lenses - 40mm, 21mm and 70mm - are now also available in silver. The Silver Pentax K-5 will be available in March 2011 for £1299.99, the 21mm DA limited in Silver for £609.99, the 40mm DA limited in Silver for £529.99, and the 70mm DA limited in Silver for £609.99.

The Pentax Optio WG1 and WG1 GPS are new compact cameras for the adventurous outdoor enthusiast. The WG1 / WG1 GPS can both withstand a freefall from 1.5 meters high and the pressure of a weight of up to 100 Kg, endure extreme temperatures up to -10°C, and are also waterproof up to 10 metres. The WG1 GPS offers all the functionality of the WG1 with an added geotagging feature. Available in March 2011, the Pentax WG1 comes in black/blue and in purple, and the Pentax WG1 GPS in green and grey/black, for £269 and £299 respectively.

The Samsung PL20 and ES80 are two new entry-level point-and-shoot cameras. The PL20 offers a 14 megapixel sensor, 27mm wide angle and a 5x optical zoom, and 720p HD movie recording. The ES80 boasts 12 megapixel resolution, a 5x optical zoom, and an internal charging system. Both the PL20 and the ES80 come in four colors - Silver, Tomato Red, Pink and Black - available in March and April for $119.99/£99.99 and $99.99 respectively.

Carl Zeiss AG has joined the Micro Four Thirds System standard. In an announcement by Olympus, Zeiss HD Video lenses will be available to users of Micro Four Thirds cameras, contributing to a vastly expanded product line. No other details about Carl Zeiss’ Micro Four Thirds lenses have yet been released.

The Canon EOS 600D / Rebel T3i is a new compact, lightweight DSLR that sits at the top of Canon’s entry-level EOS line-up. The Canon 600D has an 18 megapixel sensor, full 1080p HD movies, 1,040k-dot vari-angle 7.7cm (3.0”) screen, and 3.7fps continuous shooting. The Canon 600D / Rebel T3i is available from early April 2011, priced at £679.00/€819.00/$799.99 body only, £769.00/€929.00/$899.99 with the new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens, and £949.00/€1,149.00/$1099.99 with the 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens.

The Canon EOS 1100D / Rebel T3 is a new entry-level DSLR camera aimed at first-time users. The Canon 1100D has 12 megapixels, 720p HD video, a 2.7 inch screen, and an nn-screen Feature Guide.
