Part one looks at cameras, lenses and other hardware accessories and explains the technology behind them. Photomatix Pro 4.0 is the latest version of the popular High Dynamic Range (HDR) processing software. Version 4 of Photomatix Pro principally adds a selective deghosting tool, preset thumbnails panel, high quality noise reduction and the ability to tone map a single image in 8 bits/channel mode. Photomatix Pro 4.0 costs $99. The upgrade from version 3 to version 4 is free of charge for registered users.

The Z-Finder EVF is a new electronic viewfinder for HDSLR cameras. The Z-Finder EVF is a 3.2” high resolution monitor that allows you to operate the DSLR camera with the correct form factor for video, providing better resolution and enhancing the stability. The Zacuto Z-Finder EVF monitor resolution is a true 800×480 making the resolution 56% greater than on-board DSLR camera screens. The Z-Finder EVF is currently in prototype and will be available in February 2011.

Think Tank Photo has just upgraded its Urban Disguise series shoulder bags. The Urban Disguise V2-0 bags are larger than their predecessors, and feature multiple pockets, YKK lockable zipper sliders, a comfortable, padded shoulder strap, and a seam-sealed rain cover. The microEVF uses a custom made state-of-the-art backlit LED fitted in an attractive, ergonomic housing. Redrock MicroEVF is priced at $595, availability has not yet been announced.
