The Epson Stylus Photo PX700W is a new all-in-one printer and scanner designed for your living room. With a black gloss finish, the PX700W features a 6.3 cm colour LCD screen, 2400 dpi scanner, and integrated Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity. Epson Claria dye-based ink produces better-than-lab-quality photos in just 17 seconds. Prints can be made by the PX700W on a variety of media from plain paper, high gloss photo paper and CD’s and DVD’s. The Epson Stylus PX700W will cost £199.99, available from today.

The Artisan 800 and 700 are new flagship inkjet all-in-ones from Epson. The premium Epson Artisan 800 model features Wi-Fi Fax, an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), Ultra Hi-Definition photos, 4800 dpi resolution scanning, a 7.8-inch smart touch panel and 3.5-inch LCD screen. The Epson Artisan 700 lacks the fax capability of its big brother and has a smaller 2.5-inch LCD and 2400 dpi resolution scanning. Both models offer Wi-Fi and Ethernet networking and use six-color Ultra Hi-Definition Claria ink. The Epson Artisan 800 costs $299.99 and the Artisan 700 $199.99.

The new Canon Selphy ES3 and ES30 compact photo printers offer stylish, updated designs with new creative photo printing options. The Canon ES3 has a 3.5-inch LCD screen and offers 1 GB built-in memory. The cheaper Canon ES30 model has a smaller 3-inch screen. Both models offer rapid image viewing and function selection with Canon’s Easy-Scroll Wheel, a more intuitive button layout, and a handy integrated power adaptor. Unique Easy Photo Packs combine ink and media for simple operation and protection from dust, and new Gold and Silver Easy Photo Packs add sparkle to prints. The new Canon Pixma iP4600 and iP3600 printers feature an enhanced ChromaLife100+ enabled ink set for stunning prints. The new system expands color reproduction, especially in red areas, and produces a more neutral black to improve contrasts. Both the iP4600 and iP3600 offer simple-to-use software, individual ink tanks, and faster print speeds to deliver high-quality photo prints. The Canon PIXMA iP4600 and PIXMA iP3600 printers will produce a 4 x 6 inch lab quality, borderless photo in approximately 20 and 41 seconds, respectively. The Canon iP4600 will be available for $99.99, and the Canon iP3600 printer will cost $79.99.

The new Canon Pixma MP980 and MP620 all-in-one printers offer a personal digital darkroom and office productivity machine in one inkjet device. The PIXMA MP980 is the first AIO printer to include a separate gray and photo black ink for truly neutral black-and-white photo printing. Both models have a sleek modern styling, smaller footprint and curved exterior to fit the décor of any home or office. The Canon MP980 and Canon MP620 both feature Canon’s new Auto Photo Fix and Auto Scan Mode, plus the built-in convenience of Wi-Fi or ethernet connectivity. The PIXMA MP620 Photo All-In-One printer will cost $149.99, and the PIXMA MP980 will cost $299.99 / £279.00 / €362.10.

The Epson Stylus SX600FW is a new high-speed printer, scanner, copier with fax and Wi-Fi functionality. The SX600 FW also features an automatic document feeder, 6.3cm LCD screen and individual DURABrite ink cartridges that are water, smudge and fade resistant. The Epson Stylus SX600FW will be available 1st September 2008 for £149.99.

The new Epson Stylus SX100 Series is a cost-efficient all-in-one with individual inks. The SX 100 uses Epson DURABrite Ultra Ink which provides high-quality documents and lab-quality photos, with individual ink cartridges costing from £5.99 each. It can automatically adjust colour and contrast and remove red-eye from photos. The Epson Stylus SX100 Series will be available on 1st September 2008 for £59.99.

The new Canon MP480 and MP190 all-in-one printers offer a sleeker design and enhanced performance. The Pixma MP480 Photo All-In-One combines elegant design with easy operation, fetauring a a 1.8-inch TFT color LCD display and easily navigated control panel. The Canon MP480 Photo All-In-One costs $99.99. The Pixma MP190 Photo All-In-One features a maximum of 4800 x 1200 dpi color resolution and delivers 4 x 6 inch borderless photo quality prints in approximately 70 seconds. The Canon MP190 Photo All-In-One costs $69.99.

PCMag have reviewed the new and Canon Selphy CP760 compact photo printer, which offers a combination of lab-quality photo printing and ease of operation.

“When I reviewed the Canon Selphy CP740 last year, I said that if you were looking for a dedicated small-format photo printer at a bargain price, this one would be hard to beat. The shelf life on that statement has long since expired, but now Canon has come out with the Selphy CP760 ($99.99 direct), essentially an upgrade of (and replacement for) the CP740. The competition is a lot tougher now, so the CP760 isn’t the standout budget-price winner that the CP740 once was. Nonetheless, it’s a perfectly capable photo printer, an improvement on the CP740, and certainly worth considering.”

TrustedReviews have reviewed the Canon PIXMA iP100, a new compact and portable printer offering exceptional print quality.

“Despite its high running costs, and to some extent the high purchase price if you include the lithium ion battery, this is an excellent portable printer. To those that need to print away from the mains, perhaps in a car or even on-site, in the middle of a field, the Canon PIXMA iP100 produces prints close to the quality of its desktop siblings, at very respectable speeds and with a minimum of fuss. It can even be hitched up as a Bluetooth printer with an optional USB adapter.”

PhotoReview have reviewed the Kodak ESP 5, a small and sleek all-in-one printer featuring a large 3 inch colour LCD display.

“Unlike the EasyShare 5300, which we reviewed in October last year, Kodak’s latest ‘All-in-One’ (AiO) printer, the ESP-5, doesn’t have messages proclaiming you can ‘Save up to 50%’ on ink costs plastered on its top panel. This is probably because the price of consumables has risen since last year. Nevertheless, the ESP-5 is clearly targeted at price-driven snapshooters who want a multi-function printer that is cheap, easy to use and reasonably versatile.”

HP has unveiled 2 new compact photo printers, the Photosmart A630 and A530, and the 5-ink Photosmart D5460 printer. The A630 model has more than 300 creative features and the largest touchscreen available on any portable photo printer. The A530 includes an adjustable display and prints photos up to 5 x 7 inches in size. The affordable D5460 features a 1.5-inch color display, memory card slots, an auto-engaging photo tray and the ability to print photos and text directly onto CDs and DVDs. The HP A630 and A530 will be available in August priced at $149 and $99. The HP Photosmart D5460 Printer is available now for $99.

Northlight Images have reviewed the Epson 4880, a new large format printer featuring Epson’s UltraChrome K3 ink with Vivid Magenta and improved image processing.

“Print quality is excellent from this printer and the supplied printer profiles were very good. It would have required quite a bit of work on my part (with top quality profiling software and hardware) to improve on them. I’ve looked at the Epson ABW (Black and White) printing mode before and found it good, but not always quite good enough (for my own use). This time, I found that the prints produced were generally good enough for me to be happy with, without any further adjustment or additional B/W profiling tricks. This isn’t to say they couldn’t be improved, but it would take some real effort compared to the ‘out of the box’ performance.”

Hahnemuhle’s FineArt Baryta and FineArt Pearl inkjet papers are now available in 60” rolls. Available in July 2008, the introduction follows a recent growth in popularity of large format printing. Other products in the FineArt Collection will follow, and in autumn 2008, Hahnemuhle will additionally debut 64” wide roll formats.
 

PCMag have reviewed the HP Photosmart Pro B8850, a new photo printer aimed at advanced amateur photographers.

“File the HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer ($549.99 direct) under pleasant surprises. In theory, it’s the next-generation replacement for the Photosmart 8750 Professional Photo Printer, a model that printed good, but not great, photos and suffered from several limitations. In reality, it has much more in common with the pricier HP Photosmart Pro B9180 Photo Printer, our Editors’ Choice for high-end photo printers. In particular, the B8850 matches the B9180’s superb output quality, which is enough by itself to make the B8850 worth a look. But the resemblance runs deeper.”

The Epson Stylus S20 is stylish, compact and affordable printer with individual ink cartridges. The Epson S20 uses Epson DURABrite Ultra Ink, with individual ink cartridges from £5.99 each. Epson’s PhotoEnhance technology automatically enhances colour settings to improve the overall tones and contrasts. PCMag have reviewed the Kodak ESP 3 All-in-One Printer, which claims to save up to 50 percent on everything you print.

“When Kodak announced its first generation of all-in-one (AIO) printers last year, including the EasyShare 5300 All-In-One, it wasn’t content with simply offering printers that held their own on speed, output quality, and features. It also claimed a low cost per page—a claim that got a lot of attention. Now Kodak’s introducing its second wave of AIOs, starting with the ESP 3 All-In-One Printer ($129.99 direct). The obvious question is, what is Kodak doing for its second act? The answer: More of the same.”

Also on offer is an optional integrated spectrophotometer with mounting device using the latest X-rite technology, putting the Epson 9900 and 7900 in direct competition with HP’s Z-series printers. The Epson Stylus Pro 7900 and Stylus Pro 9900 will be available in Australia from late spring and the UK in November, prices to be announced.
