FINE evolution
Canon’s FINE print head has been enhanced across the PIXMA range to deliver high quality photo prints at greater speeds than before. The MP610 delivers 1pl droplets and a class-leading resolution of 9600x2400dpi. A 4x6cm photo takes just 21 seconds to print – 25 percent faster than the MP600. Offering a maximum resolution of 4800x1200dpi, the MP520 prints a 4x6cm photo in approximately 46 seconds. Both models use Canon’s Single Ink technology, with individually replaceable ink tanks for minimum wastage. The MP520 uses four colours - CMY dye for photos and a large pigment black ink for text. The MP610 employs Canon’s ContrastPLUS 5-ink system, incorporating an extra black dye ink for superior contrast in photos.
Enhanced copy technology
Modifications to Canon’s Dual Colour Gamut Processing Technology allow for more faithful colour reproduction when copying images and documents. Two types of colour rendering are employed to reproduce tones that accurately match human perception – delivering the precision needed for photo reprints and other demanding copy jobs. The technology has been improved to deliver greater colour fidelity in blue and yellow areas, along with better text legibility in first and second generation copies.
The MP610 achieves rapid copy speeds up to 31cpm (copies per minute) for black and white and 24cpm for colour , while the MP520 offers speeds of 30cpm and 20cpm respectively. Through mechanical refinements, both models have a
Quick Start function - units are ready to begin accepting copy data within approximately 3 seconds of power on.
Automatic photo correction
Further enhancing print quality, the newly developed Auto Image Fix automatically corrects common flaws in images prior to printing. The system analyses images using Face Detection and Scene Analysis, then optimises settings such as contrast, tone and saturation. Auto Image Fix is particularly effective at correcting problems with backlit faces or underexposed shots – automatically boosting face tones and brightness for beautiful, natural-looking results.
Advanced media handling
The MP610 and MP520 incorporate features that enable enhanced creativity and convenience. Both models feature two paper trays, eliminating the need for inconvenient paper changes when switching between jobs. The MP610 supports automatic double-side printing for added versatility, and comes supplied with a DVD/CD tray for high quality printing onto compatible discs.
Standalone use
The high resolution colour TFT screens on the MP610 and MP520 feature an improved user interface for quick and simple access to menus and controls. Combined with the Easy Scroll Wheel, it provides intuitive operation for standalone printing, copying and scanning. Both models support direct printing from most popular memory cards, as well as direct printing from PictBridge compatible digital cameras and camcorders. Wireless printing from camera phones is also possible via a built-in IrDA port (MP610 only) or optional Bluetooth adapter.
