Canon launches another season of mini documentaries – ‘The Shot’

Canon, leader in photographic and imaging technology, is pleased to announce four stunning new additions to the award-winning ‘The Shot’ mini documentary series. Featuring more of the world’s finest photographers, ‘The Shot’ continues to present the photographer as an expert in their field with each photographer explaining how they captured a certain image or series of images and their story behind it. ‘The Shot’ will air between mid May until the end of June on several Pan-European networks and is in association with the Canon EOS 350D digital SLR camera.

Europe’s Best
The four new mini documentaries cover sport, wildlife and nature photography and feature the work of five photographers. Angela and Jonathon Scott, renowned for their work on the BBC’s ‘Big Cat Diary’, feature in a mini documentary about their passion for wildlife photography, whilst in another, Manuel Presti from Italy speaks about his nature work photographing the intricate patterns created by flocks of birds. In two sport mini documentaries, Andy Day from the UK discusses his images of Parkour street athletes and how they have been inspired. Legendary Australian surfing photographer, Ted Gambeau, also talks about the perfect shot of the perfect wave.

Three previously released mini documentaries featuring Rankin, Julian Germaine, and Gero Breloer, will also be screened.

Award winning
In a move away from traditional forms of advertising, each innovative 60-second film is devoid of product references. The original series of ‘The Shot’ received awards for ‘Best Use of International Media’ from Media and Marketing Europe, and the EACA (European Association of Communications Agencies) gave ‘The Shot’ campaign a Silver Euro Effie. Judges at the Media and Marketing Europe Awards, described the series as ‘strong and powerful’.

Pan-European
The mini-documentaries will be shown on six pan-European TV channels (including BBC World and the National Geographic Channel) and be integrated into their schedules as short programmes. Canon is attributed as sponsor of the series, with each show being brought to the viewer by the product: the EOS 350D, Canon’s latest consumer digital SLR camera.

‘The Shot’ documentaries are produced by the agency Coast for Canon.
