Final call for IGPOTY ‘Macro’ Art Project

International Garden Photographer of the Year (Competition 8) is now well underway and one talented photographer has already scooped a £500 cash prize in the first IGPOTY art project, Monochrome, which ran in the Spring. The inspirational projects just keep coming - and this is the last few weeks to enter the next photo project category – MACRO.

Entries close at the end of this month – 30th  June.

There’s a £500 cash prize for the winner, plus the opportunity for their image to be featured in the IGPOTY book and also the exhibition, which tours the UK and worldwide including Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, plus venues across Europe and venues as far afield as Sydney, Australia!

The Macro Art photo project has a wide brief, here’s what IGPOTY CEO Philip Smith had to say about this ‘up close’ look at photography: ‘Macro lenses have become so accurate in recent years that they have opened up a new miniature world for many photographers to explore.

‘But it is not just about getting in close for its own sake; we are looking for artistic images that reveal the inner life of plants, that expand our awareness and propel us into new realms of the imagination. Technique is important here; make sure you are in control of your focus and use depth of field for maximum and intentional creative effect.’

International Garden Photographer of the Year has a top prize of £5000 cash for the overall competition and images entered in any of the special art projects can still be entered separately into the main annual competition. See the website for more info – www.IGPOTY.com
